The 2022 BattleBots World Championship Tournament rages on with another night of metallic mayhem.

Tonight, we'll be seeing the first round matches on the right-hand side of the bracket, including the #2 overall seed Ribbot, the highest-seeded rookie bot in Blip, and former BattleBots champion Tombstone in action. You can see the full bracket by clicking the link above, but be aware that the online bracket includes the result from last week's first-round matches, so don't click it if you're not fully caught up. And as a reminder: Please put any discussion of match results under spoiler tags until 24 hours after the episode airs out of consideration for people who can't watch the episode live, especially if you decide to watch the episode early on Discovery+ before it airs on TV.

For the playoffs we moved our watch parties until Saturday, mostly so we can take shots if our picks lose, but I really wish I could watch tonight.

I cant watch, but someone let me know how Valkyrie does if they fight tonight. They my favorite bot in the field. Love the unique design

Cobalt vs. Yeti and Tombstone vs. Jackpot were both absolute slobberknockers (as good ol' Jim Ross would say) but Cobalt and Jackpot come out alive.

I really dont watch as much as I want but I feel like tombstone always loses now and I love it. Saw the result on Twitter

@SF_Okami Valkyrie got absolutely dominated by Blip. Blip tanked the spinner until it broke 30 seconds in, then Blip ragdolled Valkyrie around the arena like it was doing its best Brock Lesnar impersonation.

Well, shit. Hydra moves on. I had hope when the tip of the flipper came off, but they were still able to flip without it. RIP Ribbot

How are everybody's brackets doing? Overall, I went 11-5 in the 16 first-round matchups, and the 4 bots I have making the final 4 are all still alive.

Come the fuck on. Ribbot was crabwalking the exact same way Tantrum was in the end their match, and it gets counted out? I don't agree with that at all.

I want to say fuck Hydra but for once they didn't do anything wrong lol.

Besides that, yeah holy shit at Blip. That was one of the most one sided fights I've seen in a long time :O

I think most other teams would have seen their opponent crabwalking and gone back in. Instead, Hydra ran to another corner when Ribbot started closing in (admittedly slowly). Not as unsporting as "I'm not touching you!" but I'll still file this one under #fuckhydra

Even if they weren't spoiled by the show, the fights go exactly as expected.

I want y'all to know that my bracket got absolutely annihilated after this episode. I lost two on the left last week, but I lost FIVE on the right this week lol

Yeah...this week was rough. Also despite me being sure I picked Whiplash as a finalist my bracket is showing Madcatter, which...yikes.

Oop. I went back and forth on whiplash, Sawblaze, and Endgame, but I ended up on whiplash.

Bots like Icewave and Hijinx are limited by their spin up time. And full speed isn't that good for them to begin with.

I just think Icewave suffers from a dated design. A bot like Bloodsport is much sleeker, more powerful, and more durable in every regard, despite having the exact same concept (sans gas powered engine)

I've been saying it for two seasons now, Tombstone is really not a well designed bot. It got by on the intimidation factor for years, but now that people understand it's (very) beatable, it doesn't really do a whole lot in every other fight.

Tombstone was way ahead of its time, but now bots are so well armored and so finely tuned that his chance of disabling them before he disables himself have decreased drastically.

He really needs an overhaul to his shock absorbers and such lol

I don't really like most of the common ideas for how to "fix" Tombstone: power down down the weapon and use the weight to guard the wheels and maybe add a wedge.

It all kind of converges to making it another RotatoR, which would be the most boring thing.

That is because other builders have figured out how to stop it. To say "intimidation" is why it got by is complete and utter nonsense.

A well-balanced vertical spinner is the way to go.

Riptide might be onto something with that open drum.
