The microtransactions were deliberately held back from reviewers until after launch / the reviews were posted. Blatant misrepresentation of the product, and it's only proper journalist ethics to go back and mention it.

That is cool of them, I agree. But I would personally have assumed they were going to have microtransactions as all of those types of games do.

Yeah but you wouldn't assume that you'd have to pay $40 to unlock a car that's already in the game or face a grind so extreme that it's almost literally impossible

At least with Forza, you get a bunch of cars right off the bat, most of the rest are easily unlockable, and yes some are just straight up sold. But this free to play stingy currency nonsense doesn't belong in a $70 game

I'm not really a fan of Jim Sterling, but Sterling was right about one thing - micro transactions and in-game currency that you can purchase with real money always leads down to a path of the game becoming impossibly grindy, or else they wouldn't sell any currency. That's why Sterling was perplexed about Devil May Cry 5, which sells orbs even though they're extremely easy to get.

And it doesnt matter much, since most games that add all the microtransactions part way in are AAA games that only care about the first 2 weeks of sales.

GT7 shouldve just been advertised as a luxury class game and not something for any old pleb gamer. Some people cant afford to drive a BMW, doesnt make those cars bad.

In Forza Horizon 5 you even get so many of the shop points from accolades that you can buy a few of the real money shop cars anyway just from playing the game for a couple weeks

Oh yeah that reminds me, I wound up getting a car on the auction house one time and then realized it was actually a DLC car. I thought it wouldn't let me drive it but it did.
