That usually happens because it's not the middle of a rush and they don't have a specific item ready to go. Has way more to do with food prep than volume

Fast food management is rarely intelligent.

I remember when I worked At McDonalds as a kid, Id always try to give people who ordered one thing or just drinks their stuff at the first window if the line is backed up or taking long.

They really dont understand how to navigate around one customer having an order that holds things up. Like, if something in the order is still being cooked, just give everyone else their order. And dont park cars if youre still going to have the parked cars food first. Its just dumb and needlessly makes one of the employees leave to the parked car.

In my expierence it's workers working slower cause they ain't in a rush so most are doing other tasks that need doing (cleaning, prep work like chopping onions, catching up on dishes) and thr one still handling orders is going a little slower to conserve their energy for the next rush

I was second in line yesterday and it took 12 minutes for the car ahead of me to move. A few minutes after that, they told me it would be another 5 minutes for my food. I asked for a refund and left.

I didn't have time to wait 20 minutes in line for Arby's. I was late clocking into work and that was with me grabbing a sandwich out of the fridge.

That's small, a family order with a dozen changes (which means they have to build them on the spot) doesn't even take long to prep during rush hour.

When I worked at a burger joint (fast casual instead of fast food but I'd imagine it's very similar), when it was busy we'd be cooking food continuously. Fries dropped almost at all times, burgers on the grill at all times, buns toasted. The only thing we'd do is read the tickets to see how they want it dressed and then serve, but food was pretty much ready to go as soon as the order came in, just had to dress, plate, then put it in the window. It's how we kept ticket times from being too long and since orders kept coming in we didn't have much waste, you generally got a feel for when to slow it down after working there enough. If it was slower, we cooked to order instead of already having stuff ready so as to not waste product and assure that it gets served as fresh as it can be.

Remember seeing a article claiming processed foods was causing the average breast size to go up. Not like making a woman's boots bigger for her but increased chances if she has a daughter's hers will be.

Used to work for In-n-Out and when it got over 95F we had to let the outside order taker on the mobile pad get out of the heat and we had to go back to the order speaker during the rush, it sucked and backed up everything, what's a little heat stroke to save that guy waiting in line 5 minutes?
