War of the Visions is starting to wear on me though. I'm only really playing it for the collab characters (hey that sounds familiar), and the game's other aspects and mechanics are starting to feel like a chore (hammering out dailies takes longer than any other game on this list).

Doesn't help that there's a certain other mobile game based on a Square franchise coming out soon, Echoes of Mana, and I probably won't have the space for it unless something else gets dumped first.

Ara Ara Ara

Since the start of the last topic, I ended up dropping NJPW Strong Spirits, so I'm back down to only playing three games for now: Princess Connect, Revue Starlight, and Tenkafuma. There are a couple of other games coming that I kind of want to try, but I'm not sure if they'll even get English releases.

I dropped Genshin myself. Too much of a time investment and farming artifacts is actual missery.

Save them for limited characters, like seasonal variants and Princess Gala exclusives.

You can get Peco shards from HM stages.

What do the Arena coins in Priconne be used for?

Currently only playing Azur Lane. I've tried to find a side game without any luck.

Currently looking forward to Counter:side Global. I loved the SEA version when I played it, but it eventually became too much of a hassle due to me splitting my time too much. I most likely will only play if they release a PC launcher though. This should be a given since all the other regions have it, but they are being oddly vague about it.

Tentatively interested in Nikke (maybe. I'm not really an ass man, so the battle vids I've seen don't really do anything for me) and Azur Welkin (hard to get excited at all when we only have a name).

Make sure you're not buying a package that is a paid gems only thing. Some games aren't clear about that but they put things that only accept paid gems right next to ones that accept both.

Decided to try Azur Lane again, and feeling a bit overwhelmed and confused as to what to do starting out. Anyone got some tips/advice? Like, what should I do to level up/good ships to level as all the levelling guides I found are for later game players with built ships which... ain't useful. Found contradicting advice on pulling - some say to spam it out for the first few days (which ones should I go for?) and others say to not spend a single thing and just use the free units.

Also found that some of the UI choices are very odd and seem almost backwards to me, but maybe that's just me. >.>

Otherwise, still mostly just playing Arknights, with Priconne and Destiny Child as side games, and the occasionally logging in to Luminaria (which I just do the new story each week and nothing else)

Start playing normally and roll on event banners with powerful chars you like.
Pay any amount of money and you'll get a great backline character, Saratoga (is that offer still valid?).
While clearing the missions normally, you can get some great characters as a drop.
The starters are very powerful, I recommend Laffey coz she's an all-rounder.

On a side note, I cleared all the Normal and Hard mode stages of the Lyrical stuff. Only reading the story left for those sweet jewels.

First off, never waste dungeon/arena/princess/clan coins on equipment. Ever. It's not worth it. Memory shards are much harder to come by. As for who to use your coins on specifically, I had talked about this back in the previous topic, but I'll mention it again here.

Dungeon coins = Unlock Nozomi ASAP because you still need a good tank, then focus on ascending her and (as a secondary priority) Yukari.
Arena coins = Focus first on either ascending Tamaki to 3 stars or unlocking Monika. After you do those, slowly start ascending Rino, Tamaki, and Monika to higher star levels over time.
Princess coins = If you don't have any other decent mages by the time you unlock the Princess Arena and start building up Princess coins, focus on unlocking Hatsune first. Otherwise, focus on unlocking/ascending Miyako first. Kaori is also very useful, but not a super high priority since you already have other solid physical attackers.
Clan coins = Dump literally every single Clan coin you get into unlocking and ascending Makoto. No one else from the clan shop matters at all.

Kind of miffed that I could not utilize previous event (the Oedo Kuuka one) to get more Monika shard but oh well.

You also need 50 character shards, and enough of the hearts to make it, but otherwise yeah. I think refining it (levelling it up) is restricted by character level? Or I'm making it up. Too lazy to go and check in game. Peco becomes a great tank with her UE though, yeah. Same with standard Kuuka.

I mean, eventually you buy out the shop so it can be potentially an idea to do so then. I've bought the two arena and dungeon shops even as a f2p at least, so do occasionally by gear. But yeah, not something I'd recommend until you get to that point.

Will stop pulling now as well then and stick with what I've got. And see if I can make anything of the various suggested teams that crop up on the reddit/guides.

iirc the qualifying condition is 1$. It should be written in the real money payment screen.

Everything you need to unlock a character's unique equipment:

* the character has to be at least rank 7
* must have 3 Princess Hearts (an item acquired from either Sanctum Survey or the Tower Of Luna) to use as material
* must have 50 of the character's memory shards to use as material
* must have 1 million mana to pay for the creation

Unfortunately, I don't know how far into the main story you have to reach to unlock Sanctum Survey and the Tower Of Luna, plus the Tower is a limited-time event that only comes around about once a month. Whenever you do make it far enough to grind those materials, Pecorine's UE is one of the best in the game and takes her from a mediocre tank to a really good tank, so it's a good choice to grab first.

I was going to say, I just went into the store and bought a buck's worth of rubies to see if it still worked, but had to go into events to find the actual first-time purchase bonus.

Silliest part is, I didn't even need the Saratoga copy, I had her maxed forever ago.

Did get enough rubies out of it to buy another dock expansion though.

You can use basically anyone for quite a long time in Azur Lane. For example, I used Prinz Eugen, Javelin, Belfast, Illustrious, Hood, Ark Royal and Portland, Z23(my starter), Indianapolis, Enterprise, Hyuuga, Unicorn as my two fleets until Chapter 9. Before getting Javelin I used Gridley if I remember correctly and Long Island before Illustrious. Ones that rank high on tier list definitely help, but are definitely not needed especially since the rankings are generally based on the specific gimmicks of the last few chapters.

Hell, I still use a bunch of them for certain later content (hard mode, OpSi).

The thing a starting player really wants is a nice healing unit, in my opinion. Illustrious or Unicorn can carry you pretty far, before the difficulty spike hits

Yeah, I'm doing ok so far. Just need to grind some more levels for chapter 3 as mid 20's isn't cutting it.

Level difference is perhaps the single biggest determining factor of ships damage dealt and received. Each 1 level higher/lower than the other ship roughly equates to 1% bonus of dealing damage when higher, and 1% less damage taken. Between that and the interchangeable gear it's really easy to just use whichever ship floats your boat for the majority of the game. (Pun intended) It isn't until the later worlds and hard stages that composition and 'meta' ships provide that extra edge needed.

Save your resources for this upcoming event. That's almost always the best time to spend your cubes as you will get event currency for building new ships.

Azur Lane isn't a game that gives fast progression. Nor does it really need to. You get what you want out of the game and it's very auto-friendly which makes it a great side-game. People who prioritize collecting all the ships will want to spend their gems on dock space. People who want to only use their waifu characters use gems for skins and Oath rings.

As a newbie, he'll likely struggle for a while and get walled by mission 7+

I loved it as a side game, but kinda grew tired when it kept doing the "clear event 80 times to unlock ship" bullshit, and then also piled other grind chores like prototypes

This is actually pretty great. had looked at the tier list from there, but didn't realise had a guide as well! Thanks for showing it.

Managed to get Shouhou as a healer, and then got my starting unit as a drop on 3-2, so... yay? Now just grinding out here for a while for levels and the ship drops to make something matching the guide (But not exact, as did get a few lucky pulls so using the better/meta units)

The rest of the site is pretty useful too, albeit some of the other content is more relevant to longtime players.

Case in point, I'm starting to reach a point where I really need to better distribute my gear because just throwing on any old grays/blues to fill in slots isn't quite cutting it anymore, to say nothing of my depot being constantly near full and I have literally hundreds of gear boxes purple and up I want to crack open.

Another question for Azur players.

From the guild coin shop, are the Elite ships a good use of coin? I already bought Unicorn, for an improvement on the other healer ship I have (supposedly) as only cost 800 coins, but saw that Helena is also an option and is supposedly a tier 0 ship so looks very enticing to get.

I just unlocked Deepwood Oak (2nd dungeon) in Priconne.
I haven't actually enter, but obviously the enemies is on bonker levels.

Should I do Oak even if I can't clear it, or should I do the Normal difficulty boss clear (in which the enemies en-route to boss there also powered up) despite the lower rewards?

If you can clear up to the boss (but not beat the boss) then it's always better than doing the previous dungeon, boss included. If you can't get that far, might be best sticking with the previous one for a bit until you're strong enough first.

I ended up clearing it because of borrowed Nozomi tanking nearly everything and waiting for Rino's UB to full. >__>

Gotta level up a lot more in terms of equipment; currently Lv 50. I accidentally ranked up Rino while not having the next tier equipment so now she deals less than before...

Yeeeah, annoyingly have to be careful with that.

Only level up if you can gear them appropriately as otherwise they both do less damage, but charge the UB slower, lower defences etc... Those stars and full gear can be more impactful than the stats from gearing up.

Helena is absolutely worth it. There's usually very little must-haves in the guild shop and the selection (other than the ships) is random, so do get her. She's an auto-include in almost every boss fleet since she gives a massive debuff. However, she is weak on her own and must be protected by being in the middle of the front formation where she takes the least damage. Her debuff is timed, so you'll have to make sure any of your backline fires right after the debuff to get the most use. Just something to pay attention to as you use her. She has a retrofit also which makes her more durable.

iirc Helena drops dead super quick so I didn't use her much and stuck to Amagi or Nagato team.
Yukikaze in particular was incredible

It also helps to use the frontline formation that improves Evasion instead of damage. And I usually give Helena two toolboxes to increase her HP and self-heal. Yukikaze is fantastic, about as tanky as it gets for a Destroyer.

Excellent. Went and got her. Slowly working my way to building something acceptable for fleets.

And going to join the suffering pain of building a Royal Navy fleet, as pretty sure the Queen will have my head if I don't build one as a Brit.
