I have been watching Clone Wars and I literally just saw an episode where toddlers were floating things in the air using the Force with absolutely no training as the Jedi had not taken them in yet.

Do you really think making things float and a jedi mind trick are on the same level ??

Obi-Wan, Luke, and Qui-Gon are the people who used it, two masters and one knight. Rey is like those toddlers making things float.

Luke and Qui-Gon failed because Jabba was not weak minded, and Wattos race is resistant to it. Rey used it on a run of the mill storm trooper and failed twice then succeeds when she should have no idea of what mind trick is since she never saw anyone use it plus when it failed twice and the trooper was suspicious it should have not worked.

Really glad I don't have trouble following these movies.

I don't know. I've never used the Force. Either way you're using your mind to do things. Why is that a big difference?

I don't see why not though. A lot of Yoda's training about about belief and expanding the mind. Why couldn't Luke lift things with the Force as a toddler and those aliens could? Isn't he stronger?

It's space magic. Saying other characters can do this so this one shouldn't doesn't really mean anything. Who taught the first Jedi? Is there no such thing as a natural affinity to the Force? Is the Force a muscle you buff up with Force lifts? Is it a video game where you need to unlock Force Talents when you're a high enough level?

Or is it something that just sort of works depending on story they're telling? Like literally everything involving magic and super powers?

Wait until these guys hear about superhero comics and flying.

lol playing LEGO Skywalker Saga.

Lucas made Yarael Poof disappear in Episode II because he thought he might be confused as a Kaminoan.

So LEGO Skywalker Saga has a mission where Poof is on Kamino, and he gives you a mission of finding a missing Kaminoan. Turns out that Kaminoan is on Coruscant at the Jedi Temple pretending to be Poof! Funny stuff.

Is it farfetched to have a Star Wars story where a Force sensitive kid discovered he has powers on his own and an example of this is that he pulls mind tricks on his parents to avoid doing chores? Eventually getting himself discovered by the Jedi or Sith?

Is that an impossible story in the galaxy of Star Wars? lol

Tangentially related to this discussion: I've always disliked KotOR2's more "mystical" Sith Lords. I saw a meme comparing them to Sidious, listing their powers and lore while Sidious was just a "politician." One of my favorite aspects of the OT and the PT is that, at its core, it's grounded in political conflict. I have never been a fan of Star Wars stories that focus more on the mystic side of things, particularly when they are over the top like something you would see out of Marvel.

I enjoy the Aurebesh subtitles under the boss names.

I tamed a Wild Aiwha on Kamino being ridden by a Kaminoan and the subtitle was "Aiwha-nna Get Off".

I liked the aspect of The Exile and Kreia's potential purpose for them. I think that's a pretty cool twist on the Force mythos. Sion basically being a walking corpse holding himself together through hate was pretty neat too.

Nihlus who goes around eating the life force of planets was pretty silly yes. The scale of that just felt a bit silly compared to everything else.

The problem isn't that they killed off the Expanded Universe. I fully believe that a ton of it was so bloated and messy that it was inevitable, and it was best to just pull what worked out of it and move on.

The problem is that the new continuity they replaced it with is just... so, so much worse.

There's like maybe 6 episodes in the show that talk about any kind of mystical/mythology stuff. The rest of it is almost entirely focused on war and politics.

Yeah Clone Wars was amazing. It elevated the Prequel era. IMO of course.

Those nerd books kept the franchise alive for years in-between the original trilogy and the prequels. If it wasn't for the nerd books, I bet star wars would have died

For an extremely small amount of fans. Those books were for a niche of insatiable fans while 90% of the other fans didn't even know they existed

That sounds hilariously awesome. How do you pronounce the evil clones name? Like does it sound the same but just spelt different? Lol

I think people make too big a deal out of the extra U, honestly. It's clearly there so that during the big action scene where Luke and Luuke are going ham on each other, the reader can easily parse who Zahn is talking about without adding a bunch of unnecessary words.

As for why the extra U specifically, it's because the other Jedi clone in the series slightly mispronounces his own name, making Jorus C'Baoth sound like Joruus C'Baoth.

Anyway I was watching a fanmade animated version of Heir to the Empire and was pretty impressed. I mean it's not great, but considering that it's the work of a single unpaid amateur...it would be fucking phenomenal with Disneybux behind it.

If you're referring to the Legacy of the Force series, that's the one that killed the EU for me.

The end of Legacy of the Force legit pissed me off a little. They spend the whole series putting together hooks that connect it to the later Legacy Comics with Krayt, then went "lol fuck that"

It's weird how before Disney bought Star Wars nearly everyone acknowledged the EU was a terrible mess but after Disney cancelled it everyone immediately stared pretending it was good.

There's at least two (generally well liked) arcs revolving around the mythological side of the Force, which may very well be six episodes, but there's also literal magic in the Darth Maul stories, which I'm also counting, and which I greatly disliked, apart from finding them to be boring. I was skipping the political/war episodes because a lot of them just didn't sound very interesting, and I hadn't been enjoying the ones I had already watched.

If the jedi's main purpose is to defend the galaxy from the Sith, and if nearly all Sith Lords are just former jedi, why do they not simply just get rid of the jedi?

The force is much better as a mystical martial art meditation style practice than it is "he is stronger so can make bigger things float".

The EU and Disney-verse suck tbh.

Oh I meant to mention about LEGO Skywalker Saga! If you fly the B-Wing instead of just holding steady in its t-shape, it will actually rotate the wing assembly around its cockpit. It actually looks real cool!

Yeah I thought the YV books were quite fine. There were some duds but that's not strange with a series of over 20 books. They used Jacen and the YV to ask some pretty nice existential questions about the SW universe and overall I'd say I enjoyed it.
