Because it brings some realism to the game vs other FPS games where they had a magic bag to carry all the guns. Have you ever seen anyone say this to praise Halo? Is it valid?

It was so original when it first came out.

Its just ok now. But also it felt like you just pistol headshot or PP/ Pistol headshot everything.

I played through recently and this irritated more than anything

You are limited on what you can use and ammo reserves are always limited on anything good so I never used them since I'd always be out of ammo and limited to 1 gun

It's not about realism. It was a smart way to balance weapons and solve the awkward issue of toggling between a bag of weapons on a controller.

It felt real, which is important for a campaign, but also it fits the kind of gameplay Halo goes for, in addition to solving baseline mapping issues.
