100% truth. They constantly tell every other culture to fix their own issues. I agree that the collective white shrugs part is off base to an extent. There are white people who care. But collectively you dont get the response of what will the black community say about this when its a white person. Hes more so addressing those who handwave it or are quick to call out every other race while shrugging this off. That point doesnt come off as clearly as it could in that statement.

If most people who are shrugging are white, I dont see the issue with the statement.

relevant in what sense? is your reaction to the violence different depending on what race the person was / was targeted? like it's less/more bad depending on the combination? or ok/justifiable?

edit for clarification: What I'm saying is that a hate crime is bad regardless of the particular combinations involved.

Much like age/background/etc, I'd say race definitely influences my reaction and assignment of blame (so to speak), *especially* if it's relevant to the motivation for the action.

I clarified what I meant - which is that if a racially motivated crime is committed, the races involved aren't relevant to if it is bad/how bad it is. they are all equally terrible, race is irrelevant in that context.
