Meh, I just took the coward's way out and informed them I won't be contesting the suspension because I doubt I can improve and don't want my editing rights restored.

I never even figured out how to become an editor. There are a few series that I always wanted to create pages for.

Wow that's a very pessimistic way of looking at things.

I take pride in how I write and word things and it causes conflict with how TVTropes wants to organize their content. I've been notified several times that I'm editing things inadequately so if they decided that I'm not meeting that requirement enough to stop me from adding to their articles then I think we're simply too far apart on how I contribute.

I've had a TVTropes account for over 10 years, I think I know when to quit.

I used to edit there until they got all anal about it. Same problem with Wikipedia - at a certain point the inmates running the asylum become so OCD about every little thing that it becomes more effort than it's worth even if you're making a good faith effort to improve the site (as opposed to just being a vandalizing troll).

Though the thing that really turns me off TVTropes is how they've just started posting shitty fanfic and bad video game mods as entries under the guise of "There's no such thing as relevancy!" Yeah, well, maybe there should be such a thing as relevancy.

I barely edit anymore; basically just putting up works that I enjoy and don't have a page for. They're hyper-political and incredibly anal about what a trope means or how to name one. I've never been on the winning side of any policy debate save the one to keep the "group of family-like friends" from being called nakama because of fucking One Piece weebs.

Then they slash and burn content because the clique who runs the place decides to kill a trope and don't replace it. So if the "Everything Has Monkeys" trope is no longer a thing, it's not their job to find the appropriate trope, so a game having combat gorillas doesn't mean anything. Guess military apes are People Sit on Chairs.

They're also the biggest apologists for bad writing; they have to be since fan-fiction is their beloved fetish. An A-10 Thunderbolt lifts off vertically? A allosaur and a tyrannosaur fighting over a dead mammoth? It's all artistic license--nobody has to try and ground their stories in facts and calling them out is wrong. Just like things dammit.

Guh. I just barely interact with them anymore.

Which is a silly discussion in the first place since how many people are going to know nakama? And "comrade" beats "nakama" anyway.

You can get smacked down hard for ban evasion.

And frankly I didn't really like how they suspended me anyway (you don't know you're suspended until you attempt to edit an article, at which point you're told to come speak to a moderator in a special forum and there they explain what you did wrong so you have to demonstrate you understand).

There are some wikis out there where I've done the same, only fixing grammar and spelling errors.
