Or to your life, either way. And that's to include anyone in your household or immediate family, not jus yourself. And I mean an addiction to anything like drugs, alcohol, gambling, etc.

I'm addicted to internet/phone usage.

I would say it's less an "addiction" and more just the easiest way to get dopamine hits. Like if I go on vacation in the middle of nowhere and don't have access to stable internet for days/weeks I am fine and am not itching to get back on.

Because it is so easily available though I end up not making good use of my time a lot of days though. It's so hard to be diligent and control it.

I kill a half gallon in 2 nights typically. Quite a few impacts sure, from sending risky texts when I was totally hammered, weight gain, being to hungover to want to reach out to anybody, ect. Tbh I dont even want to quit, I love drinking..

got into some illegal gambling trouble in college. owed a not so good person $1000 and needed my family to help me deal with some issues coming from that.

So you quit for good, or do you just try to drink moderately? Any health problems you ran into that you care to share? I know I got a fatty liver

Not unless you count spending $100 or so a month on gacha games. Even then, not a significant impact. Just an unpleasant feeling...

My sisters' dad, the guy who adopted me, was addicted to drugs and got my sisters addicted, one of them even at the age 13. They are now both addicts who abandoned their children. One stays at a motel and is a sex worker while the other is living off some guy. She's pregnant to him right now too. They are both trash and use their children for food stamps.

My Brother, mother, and father are all dead.

Yes, me. I have become an alcoholic after my mom passed in January.

My sister died of overdose. She was addicted to huffing airduster.

I've never had that sort of addiction.

Did your addiction make you just take less care of yourself over all?

I try to be healthy in other areas to make up for all my opioid consumption. I feel like most addictions go south super fast because people usually neglect a lot of other healthy things when they become addicted. And those things are what does it more than the thing you're actuallyaddicted to

My younger brother is addicted to pills and whatever he can get his hands on.

My other younger brother seems to have an online gambling addiction.

My uncle is a drug addict as well.

I think I might be becoming addicted to THC gummies, cause they're becoming my only respite from suicidal thoughts.

My mom is addicted to sugar and junkfood, and keeps eating and drinking it despite getting type 2 diabetes.

Life has not been kind to this family.

You guys shared with me, so let me share with you. Sadly, I am an opioid addict. More of an abuser than addict really, but it amounts to the same basically. It kills my finances, my health, self-worth, and all that shit. Been going on for years now. But I think I might finally be ready to get sober, I also smoke weed, which isn't too bad, but I'm thinking I need to put that down to try and mitigate the damage that addictive and abusive behavior has done to me.

My dad was a plant manager at some construction company in Florida back in the 80s. He decided to drive home drunk one day and hit this lady. She ended up in a wheelchair and sued the company for $2 million. Because of that, he lost his job. This started a downward spiral in his life, and from what I understand, he started using cocaine.

My grandparents on my dad's side brought him home to pay for his rehab and help him get better. He graduated from rehab, but went back to doing cocaine again. My mom had a steady job at IBM and she didn't want to jeopardize my wellbeing, herself, and her career by trying to stay around. So, she moved with me from Pensacola, FL to Austin, TX to get away from him.

My mom did really well raising me on her own, but there were definitely times when we could have used his help.

My dad was (and still is in some ways) a gambling addict

It made us live really poor growing up. We struggled bad due to his gambling losses.

Both of my parents have had addictions that affected my childhood, so yes. Thankfully, I somehow did not inherit the inclination towards drug abuse.

If Im sober im extremely paranoid. I think every single person or vehicle I see is someone trying to pull up on me. Or conspiring on me in some way.

It stems from my terrible ptsd. I self medicate to stay sane.

I've had issues with alchohol and marijuana here and there. Pornography.

My sisters either or or all have been drug addicts in the past. A few months ago I watched my sister OD on heroin (well, I got called in the room after she was already doing it). Had to call the ambulance. She looked dead. I really thought that was it.

My grandparents were alcoholics but eventually stopped - my best friend passed away last summer after she ODd on pills

I used to do a lot of drugs and quit smoking weed recently. Im kinda sick of it after years of experimenting and seeing what it does to people. Im tired of mellowing out and knowing I just cant do it myself. The stuff made me ignore my depression and let my manic problems slip under the radar when it came to issues that stressed me out to the maximum. Everytime I smoke now I just get into manic thinking where I calculate everything .. I feel like its like walking around in my own depressive skin >_>

I dont have contact with any of my family any more, mostly because my parents retired and became raging drunks and most of the family wouldnt acknowledge anything was wrong and it blew up everything.

Also my cousin and her baby daddy were some of my closest friends in life in the past, but they slowly descended into hardcore shooting up style meth addiction.

Mom did heavy drugs while pregnant and my older brother and younger brother were both damaged by them. I'm the middle kid. I dunno if she stopped doing them while having me or I just got lucky and turned out mostly fine

I feel your pain.

Depends on if you count hoarding as an addiction. My wife doesn't throw out anything, and both our bedrooms and dining room are full of boxes of stuff.
