I think inflation and skyrocketing housing costs are going to push homelessness and poverty through the roof. Meanwhile, the GOP is going to take control of the country and openly rig the system so no Democrat ever wins again, no matter how many people vote.

Trump. Trump until dead. Right wing celebrity or Fox News personality.

Trump/DeSantis ticket in 2024. Wins in a relative landslide. They completely fuck the system under 2 years of a trifecta. DeSantis "wins" again in 2028.

In November I hope that the new Pokemon game is going to be great. Two years from now I think I'll be sinking my teeth into Dragon Quest XII. Six years... hmm.. that's pretty far out but I bet we're two more FF14 expansions down the line at that point, which is pretty exciting.

DeSantis wins in 2 years, we get another Trump like presidency for 4 years. He "wins" reelection and after several horrible rulings by the supreme court the northeast blue states try to secede during that term.

I honestly think an Obama style charismatic democrat could easily win in 2 years, especially if republicans take congress and cause more problems.

In two years, Republicans will control all 3 branches of government again. Roe v Wade 100% overturned (that's probably happening in a couple days anyway), Obergfell overturned, Lawrence v. Texas overturned. Voting rights eroded. Massive taxcuts for the wealthy creates even greater inequality. America experiences the second great depression by the end of Trump (or Desantis)'s term. They lower the age to buy a gun to 14, which in turn increases the amount of school shootings. In roughly half the states, simply being gay is a crime. Same with Transgender. Everyone who is gay or transgender in those states will be forced to register as a sex offender. Every positive thing Biden did is undone. It doesn't reach civil war, but riots breakout across the country at a level unseen before as America devolves into an even more broken nation than we are now.

The sad thing is I cant tell if that is sarcasm or not.

2022: It's not going to be fun. It's not going to be 2010 bad (I don't think many people appreciate how much of a bloodbath those midterms were) but the House is gone for sure. The Senate is somehow not totally impossible to hold given its a friendly map for Dems and the GOP seems like it may want to blow what could be prime opportunities... but this is a cursed timeline so it probably still is lost too. God I hope not though, if only for judicial appointments being able to continue instead of being shutdown for half of Biden's term.

2024: Trump runs again. I would probably put money down that his VP is not DeSantis. Forget the whole both live in Florida stuff, Trump's ego just wouldn't be able to handle it. I don't know who he picks but it'll be someone who is basically a cardboard cutout like Pence was who attracts no attention away from Trump himself. I'd say Stefanik wouldn't be an outlandish choice but who even knows. Provided it is Trump running I think it isn't impossible that Biden can win because 2 years is a long time in politics but again, cursed timeline. If Biden does not run, Dems are fucked I think because somehow he is still probably the best chance Dems have this cycle (I know.) If Trump doesn't run for whatever reason I think it is DeSantis and he probably wins and fuck everything.

2028: Regardless of the outcome of 2024, GOP wins this. If Biden survived then it's because the goddamn pendulum effect means the electorate will put the GOP in the White House. Additionally in this scenario, assuming Trump lost in 2024, DeSantis definitely runs in 2028 to win here. In the Trump won 2024 timeline... okay so like he'll legit "joke" about that third term shit he kept doing back when he was already President but I assume DeSantis runs here and it's a bit too hard to parse what happens here. Voting rights and elections are probably fucked to hell and rigged even more though so I don't know if it even matters what's going on with the Dems here.

I disagree with you that Biden is the best chance of dems winning in 2024. Unlike 2020 where "I'm not Trump" was enough to win, I think Dems really need a candidate who can separate themselves from the mess the country is in right now.

I'm usually against polarizing leftist candidates but a bernie sanders type might be the best bet who can blame the economy on different democrats.

Biden's incumbent advantage is offset by high gas prices and inflation, which will be blamed on him. Unless something is done about that (and Republicans have NO reason to help him out there. They're fine letting the country burn if it means getting back in power), I feel like his chances are fairly slim. And I'm not sure there's a Democrat who could step up and be the promise for change we need and also get the backing of the establishment. (Who still support fucking Henry Cuellar)

The reason I started introducing a bunch of branching outcomes for 2024 is because no joke two years is a lot of time for things like that.

Reagan's prospects looked dim in 1982 because of... double digit inflation and an energy crisis. GOP got whacked in the midterms. And then he won 49 states in 1984.

That'll never happen again but my point is two years could see things turn around enough that Trump - and only Trump, IMO - could find a way to lose in 2024 because of how hated he is.

There could be, if establishment and moderates allowed it. But I don't see them doing that when they prefer to crown their candidates.

It's crazy to think Trump could end up running again. His presidency wasn't a complete disaster, but he absolutely was the laughing stock of the entire world for the better part of those 4 years

Dems are definitely fucked this year, but as xp notes two years is a lot of time. If inflation is under control in 2024 without a recession I think Biden would have a pretty good shot at being re-elected (whether or not he was actually responsible for that recovery).

I also dont really buy that DeSantis is some sort of fantastic candidate. He can win, sure, but more on the strength of being non-Trump R than because he has any sort of real appeal.

DeSantis is beloved, and its wild to me because he does NOT have the juice. Just zero charisma and a terrible voice.

If you want to argue that people thinking he has charisma == him actually having charisma then fine, but otherwise he's one of the least charismatic public figures out there.

I think it's the opposite. He has no charisma unless he's saying something that directly appeals to you.

Charisma doesn't just mean you speak well, it means you can inspire thoughts/actions/etc. in others. Any time Trump deviated from things his crowds wanted to hear (such as when he was pushing the vaccine), they immediately turned on him, and instead of him inspiring them, they caused him to backtrack and change what he was saying. Somebody with charisma drives their audience, not the other way around.

at least partially this is because when he says things they dont want to hear, they dont believe he really means them. Someone got to him, or hes being coerced in some way to promote the vaccine, theyre not Trumps sincere words.

That has nothing to do with a lack of charisma, it has to do with the MAGA cult train flying off the tracks.
