Enough current that it'd be no worse for wear than licking a 9-volt battery... or however that works

a really big static shock or like one of those arcing science things

here's a guy trying to make ~500k volt arcs

A Van de Graaff generator can create a potential difference of up to 5 megavolts.

High voltage is dangerous because it can jolt through things very easily.

Electricity will pass through anything if the voltage is high enough.

It doesn't take much current to kill you:

Here is a great example:

Electricity can never harm you if you dont have impure thoughts or ambitions. That is one of the few things we know.

It's the current that's dangerous, not the voltage. Just shuffling your feet over a carpet and touching a doorknob or your sibling can generate over 35,000 volts.

....No.

ESD is the technical term for those static shocks, and most measuring systems cap out at 8kV. You do not generate that much voltage from just shuffling around.

"For modelling the effect of static discharge on sensitive electronic devices, a human being is represented as a capacitor of 100 picofarads, charged to a voltage of 4,000 to 35,000 volts."
