There's this game I'm thinking of getting once it releases in August. The problem is, the 'recommended' setting requires a CPU better than the one I have: it requires a R5 3600 whereas I have a R5 2600X

My GPU far exceeds the requirements: the game requires a 2GB card and mine is 6GB, so there shouldn't be any issues there. Similarly, all my other specs are more than enough

Will my PC be able to run the game well iyo? Or should I get it on an alternative system (in my case PS4 Pro)?

It should be fine, assuming the game doesn't literally enforce the requirement by not letting you play it on anything less. Is there a demo you can try out (is that even still a thing)?

Otherwise, if it's a desktop, you can likely just upgrade your CPU anyway. You may need to update your BIOS to support newer CPUs, but AMD are pretty good about cross-generation compatibility. The current generation (for desktops) is the 5000 series - keeping in mind there's no 4000 or 6000 series for desktop and 7000 isn't out yet - so 3000s shouldn't be in too high demand, you might even be able to find a good clearance deal on one.

It'll run it, but you may get noticeable framerate drops depending on how intense the game in question is.

Not that I'm aware of unfortunately

Money's a bit tight lol. The cheapest 3600 I could find goes for about 200 which is more than I can afford right now. BIOS updates and socket compatibility shouldn't be an issue, so it's definitely viable in the medium term (ie once I get a job), but it's not something I could do straight away

Thanks for the answers!

For gamers the GPU is usually going to be the bottle a this time.
If anything you'll probably just have to lower a few setting.

different games/dev methods are more/less efficient at utilizing GPU and CPU. Really depends on the game to be quite honest. You'll be able to play it no worries, just don't expect smooth framerates on high/ultra.

Fwiw it's Soul Hackers 2, developed by Atlus and it runs in Unity

You shouldn't worry too much,
Your r5 2600 is still better than the "Minimum" required R3 1200.

Depending on your display resolution (1080p, 1440p, etc.), you will probably run the game at the "High" presets at 60 fps.

I would wait until the game releases to see the performance, though Sega/Atlus PC ports are generally pretty good and run in much weaker hardware than their requirements.

That would be the sensible choice, but if I do end up getting the PS4 version then I want the launch edition with the merch <_<
