Yeah, but weirdly the idea of living forever fills me with a similar existential dread. Obviously, I don't fear living forever since I know it won't happen, though.

Don't fear the act of dying itself, I just fear not existing because I'm 99.9% sure there is nothing after death.

I'm not entirely sure. Like imagine I go to heaven or hell after death - and that will be the state of my existence literally forever. The idea just gives me a sense of dread.

I dont fear death itself, but I would fear a painful death.

Otherwise, I imagine it would be like going to sleep, but with no dreaming.

I was a weird kid maybe. Once I found out about the concept of death I was very worried about dying, my parents dying etc

After working in a nursing home I now realise it's just part of life etc have accepted it more

This. There's no proof of what happens when we die, so I don't really give a shit enough to fear it.

And yet...I'm afraid of what lurks deep beneath the ocean, miles down where it's so dark that even sunlight can't reach it. We have no idea what's down there, but the thought of it terrifies me. I suppose at the very least, we know that it's real, and gigantic creatures have been seen in even shallower waters :<

I don't. Y'know why? I was born a human to live a life and learn soul lessons, no matter what might occur. Should I die before I think I should, it was probably meant to happen that way. They call those soul agreements, that were agreed to before birth. There is also the reason that some souls' bodies die, before having full lives, is that because they are either too evil/negative-based or it was the agreement that the souls' of the infant and parents agreed to have while they lived their lives. To learn lessons.

I've quit now and work as a disability support worker in the community. Much nicer. My nursing home was very modern and new, so it wasn't that dirty or had lingering bad smells throughout the building like some cheaper ones, but well yeah you had to wipe a lot of asses so it was dirty in that sense

I don't fear death that much because I have nothing meaningful like wife or kids to lose. I don't have any real friends. Friends to drink and eat with sure but none close enough like a brother.

I just fear sudden deaths. If I was given like a week to decide who to give my personal possessions to and say some final words to them, then I'd be okay.

I fear dying quite a bit less, now that I've been in the process of transitioning for almost a year.

I mean, don't get me wrong, I'm still afraid of dying and have no desire to die any time soon, it's just before the idea of dying was existentially terrifying. Now at least I know people will be able to say "That's a shame, she was really getting her shit together" and that I at least got to be happy, however briefly.

Honestly, I think a lot more about the possibility of my lady dying, because she has a mast cell disorder. I may be more terrified of the idea of her catching COVID-19 from me and subsequently dying of it than the idea of dying myself!

Not so much anymore now that my parents are both gone. The whole world feels empty AF now without them, so honestly I couldn't care less how soon or far off my last day alive is.

I only was afraid of dying when my mom was still alive because I knew how awful and depressed she'd have felt if she outlived me (not that it makes it any easier for myself to deal with her passing).

My issue is more with the concept of eternity or nothingness. I think both are incomprehensible ideas, and nobody will ever understand the meaning of either. It's akin to trying to understand the scale of a grain of sand in comparison with the universe. You might be able to grasp the concept of each individual size, but to actually visualize and comprehend the amount of difference is not possible.

As for death. People die, animals die, and it's unavoidable, I understood that quite some time ago and haven't been too worried about whenever it comes, I just try to be as healthy/safe as possible and make good decisions and will see where that takes me.
