Foo Fighters - Most of the first 2 albums

Bush - 0 (Liked them a bit when they first came out but they very quickly got overplayed)

Better Than Ezra -0 (But I saw them live back in the day and they were fantastic)

Third Eye Blind - 0

Counting Crows - 0 (But I also saw them live opening for The Who and they were also fantastic)

Letters to Cleo - 0 (Didn't see them live but the singer was a special guest at a Local H show a while back. Also hilarious when Violent J from I.C.P. was obsessed with her and actively had juggalos trying to convince her to go out with him.)

Foo Fighters are one of my favourite bands and seen them live several times. Enjoy most of their songs.
Bush - Couldn't name a single song but do recall enjoying one of two of theirs.
Better than Ezra - Never heard of them, but likely listened to a song or three.
Third Eye Blind - Recall liking a few songs of theirs, but couldn't name a single song.
Counting Crows - Okay, were never something I really listened to.
Letters to Cleo - Never heard of them, but likely listened to a song or three.

Letters to Cleo? Didn't they do the theme song for Melrose Place or something similiar?

My memory of them was seeing them at a small show in St. Louis and much more excited by the band Seed that opened for them.

More fun facts about Better than Ezra:

the song "Good" (and probably "The Killer Inside" and "Rosalia") are about Selma Hayek. Lead singer and her lived together for a while before Deluxe came out. She was the girl from their "Rosalia" video, but I actually think the song was written about her too).

When I saw them in concert in 2003, the lead singer looked me directly in the eyes and tossed me his sweaty towel from off stage, but the girl i was with didnt know i was bi so i just gave the towel to some other girl who was freaking out xD

The "Untitled" track on Deluxe is actually 20 years ahead of it's time (or 5 years too late, however you want to look at it). It's a druggy synthwave mix that sounded really strange back in the day, but if you listen to it now you'd swear it was the Hotline Miami soundtrack.

https://youtu.be/Q1yijVVPD_c

The other main theme from Deluxe is dealing with abusive parents, or one abusive parent, in a rough household, probably something that he and Hayek had in common.

I'm trying to find the track listing for their first album, Surprise, which they self-produced. Some of those songs are on Deluxe and it helps to separate the new songs from the old ones.

Niiiice, thanks for the Surprise listing. They made up some other shit about their band name over the years, but I think it's just something along the lines of

"We are better than Ezra Pound, the most difficult and respected poet writing in English" ... remember this was 1989.

In the intervening years, I'm sure they found out that Pound was a crazy fascists and didn't want to make the connection to him public. The name still stands, they are, in fact, better than Ezra Pound.

They were also from Baton Rouge growing up, but dropped out of LSU to move to New Orleans where they did Surprise and probably songs from Deluxe, got signed, moved to LA. Growing up in Baton Rouge you would hear stories about your friend's older brother who used to live next to the garage that BtE practiced in or w/e. Stuff like that xD

Some other stuff:

the song "A Lifetime" is from all accounts, actually a true story (their friend died and they took the urn from the funeral and drove to the beach to scatter the ashes).

the song "Rosalia" really, really sounds like something from The Adventures of Pete & Pete

the song "Good" was featured in the trailer for the Babysitters' Club movie in the '90s. I really really wanted to see that movie but I was a boy so i couldn't!
