Simon Pegg reprised his role as Buck from Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs and Ice Age: Collision Course, having been confirmed to when the film was announced. However, he was the only actor to return from the previous films, as Ray Romano, John Leguizamo, Denis Leary, Queen Latifah, Seann William Scott and Josh Peck were replaced.

Was it just pay? Were they upset that the Blue Sky Studios team were shuttered down and they didn't come back in solidarity. Were they not called at all?

It's a shame that nobody of relevance cares enough about Ice Age to ask any of them this. Like I doubt Sean William Scott was too busy. Nobody has even bothered to fix the typo in this Wikipedia article.

Isn't this like if they made a new Fast and Furious movie and The Rock was the only returning cast member. Was there beef behind the scenes?

I imagine they had a good relationship with the people at the studio. Maybe they just didn't think they'd enjoy it if they weren't working with the people they'd come to like. That's probably the only reason they were willing to make so many
