Bugs keepaway is insane, but not in a frustrating way.

First time playing. And Im really liking it tbh. Feels really good. I barely notice theres no guarding.

Game is really fun. The cost of unlocking characters is rough though.

I'm honestly surprised just how fun it is. It's a much floatier than Smash because it allows for more freedom in the air. I'm really having fun with Iron Giant.

2 big criticism is that I think the netcode in this beta is performing worst than the last one. Also there's waaaay too much downtime when you want to rematch. I get it, it gives you time to pick a new character with a new loadout, but some of us like an instant rematch option. It's honestly why DNF is so addicting to play on rank.

It also means a lower bar of entry for people to get into fighters. Brawlhalla shown that this concept can work.

I am. Sad that Finn is locked out this time around, but my big problem is I only want to do 1v1 so I really don't have a good sense of teamplay dynamics.

The f2p stuff isn't TOO bad: the mid price founders pack will unlock every character plus like the first 5 dlc releases which is pretty reasonable, but the difference between the free and paid battle pass in terms of rewards is kind of insulting.

Early open beta is live for people who played the alpha. Actual open beta is like next week.

Multiplatform. If you played the last test you should get an email with a code. If you didn't, you can link your WB account with Twitch and watch an hour of someone playing to get a code.

Okay, suddenly I care now.

Its free to play.

Its currently in open beta. You can play it earlier if you were in the closed beta, or you watch a certified twitch stream for 60 minutes after linking your WB account with a twitch account.

You can also buy one of the passes to play it early. Which is what I did.

I bought the $60 one because I think the amount of community interaction and the effort put into this game deserves it.

I am loving how the game feels and Ive been using Arya.

I had this whole big explanation typed out, but I accidentally refreshed my page so here's the short version:
The cheapest founders pack gives you enough "golden tickets" to unlock every character from launch. The mid-tier founders pack is the equivalent of buying the base game plus a season pass and gives you enough tickets to instantly unlock the next five characters they release. The $100 founders pack gives you 30 tickets and a bunch of rare effects you can equip to characters.

The game is really heavily monetized towards trying to bait you into spending real money on a premium gem currency that you can use to unlock cooler looking effects, skins, banners, etc. So it's probably going to turn into a fortnite type situation where there's going to be a huge, obvious difference between somebody playing for free and somebody who's dumped a lot of money into cosmetics, but from a raw gameplay perspective they should be on equal footing.

Edit: the battle pass, though, is particularly egregious because the paid pass gives you a bunch of really high-end premium things like reskinned characters with new voice work and really fancy ring out effects where the free battle pass gives you like... stickers.

They also sell XP boosters which is going to be a problem early after launch because each character levels up independently. While the equippable runes or whatever are not game breaking, someone who boosts a character to max level is going to have a clear and noticeable advantage over somebody playing a character fresh.

Game is fun! It's tricky cuz it plays soooo similarly to Smash but is just different enough that you can't just pretend you're playing Smash lol.

Right now my biggest adjustment is there not being a shield. I'm usually a defensive player so not having the ability to stall with a shield is throwing me off a little.
