I get that, at a glance, his Mario and Mario Kart videos get the most views, but I wish he would diversify it a bit like he used to :(

May be low-hanging fruit, but the speedrun/time trials of Mario Kart has such a long and documented history it's easy content to make tbh. I don't blame him, of course it does seem he enjoys the Mario Kart speedrun scene too.

It's pretty disingenuous to suggest it's low-hanging fruit when he puts such effort into his videos. Dude just likes Mario Kart and the stories that come about.

I was around when the waluigi stadium shortcut was found and I spent a lot of time working on that as a 13 year old. Great to see they've found shortcuts recently and it's still in the works

I think this is the one where I reach my limit.

you're reading too far into what i said.

it's low hanging fruit because he can go back to the same sources for every video, rather than having to research new communities. plus, it generates views. plus, he can have fun with it. it's a win-win

i'm not 100% sure why people are getting defensive

I mean his videos can both be well done and not especially novel.

Its why I watch his videos but I dont throw money at his patreon.

I think the disconnect here is that "low hanging fruit" generally carries negative connotations.

Something can have a effective Reward to Effort ratio without it automatically being a bad thing.

And the nice thing about SS is he shed light on an untapped Margery of videos and now there are a variety of people who create similar content about other games. Even if they don't all have hours level of polish they are filling the varietal void that his channel can sometimes lack.

The last time I was really interested in a Summoning Salt video is when it had villains.

And then he ruined it by apologizing for making them villains.

I saw this pop up in my recommended videos last night and didn't realize it was SS. If I had, I wouldn't have ignored it!

Oh cool, another new SummoningSalt video, which means a new round of people talking about how all his videos are the same and they don't really like them anymore
