I've been seeing these videos on youtube of the trains in the Create mod and that looks neat. But I don't really know about modding Minecraft at all. I kinda want to play with Create, but I also want to have like a vanilla+ experience with like amplified and better nether mods, and more biomes and ores and more weapons and stuff like that. I don't know anything about Fabric or Forge or compatibilities or anything like that. Also the Forge website looks like it's going to give me a virus. :|

Anyone know anything about this stuff? >_>

Edit: oh also is there a way to turn off hunger? When hunger was added like 10 years ago it completely killed my interest in playing it anymore.

Modding is generally pretty straightforward, unless it's changed considerably in the last couple years. You download Forge, follow the directions to create a Forge-specific .exe, create a profile in the Minecraft launcher that points toward that .exe, then paste all the mods you want into the mod folder that will be created when you run the Forge exe. You may have to do some tweaking with prerequisites and incompatibilities, but it's overall nothing too complicated.

There are indeed ways to mod out hunger. Some mods do it by giving you equipment or other items that automatically consume whatever food you're carrying, others have items that keep hunger topped up for free or based on some manner of energy source, others just remove the mechanic.

That, I'm less help for. It's been quite some time since I looked into modded Minecraft at all, and even then I basically ran Botania exclusively (plus a couple QoL mods, like NEI and some manner of minimap/waypoint mod). I'm not sure what the current scene looks like.

Not at all, hence there are so many ways to defeat it with mods. I often end up sticking with automated farm setups more than outright eliminating the mechanic, since the upkeep of occasionally eating some food isn't really a problem for me, but devoting a significant amount of time to keeping a stock of food is enough of a pain to want to avoid it.

It finally wasn't a billion degrees in my game room so I decided to try and get this working. It took a while to get the Forge installer to actually work. I would open it with JRE and nothing would happen. Eventually I was like "oh what if I use command prompt to tell Java to open it" and that worked. And I loaded up some mods, and they worked!

Oh yeah I heard something about the community guidelines or whatever changing and everyone was mad about it but I didn't look into it.

The only thing I know of is that Mojang formally banned anything NFT-based from Minecraft and cryptobros are moderately pissed about it, but that doesn't really affect most people (or if it does, it affects them for the better, because anything to limit NFT integration in games is a good thing).

Never really been one for mods. Man, I'd kill for an editor program that lets me copy my old builds again.
