Edlegard is a good hatable character, and the three stories are written in a way to show that's she's unquestionably in the wrong.

Unfortunately there are far too many people who find her brand of fascism endearing and heroic, so despite it not being any fault of the writers, I do in fact hate her as a character

I'll always find it hilarious that I found Edelgard less sympathetic after doing Crimson Flowers

As a side note, everyone I've known who has been obsessed with Edelgard (far beyond just liking her), have really weird personalities, and seem a bit...off.

I've only done Edelgard routes, but I think generally, the pro-Edelgard mindset tends to be "She's right about her vision of the world but her condition puts her into the act of enforcing it through regrettable means".

Yeah, she's one of the better FE characters. The endless arguments around her less so.
