This is the second of 5 play-in tournaments in this side series, with 8 bots competing for a chance to take on the bounty bot and the winner of that bounty fight advancing to the tournament of champions.

Lock-Jaw is the bounty bot this time, and the tournament field also features a pair of former top-8 finishers in the main seasons in Ribbot and Shatter. the most interesting first-round matchup is a huge one. Literally. HUGE vs. Deep Six is a battle of two of the largest and most intimidating bots in BattleBots history, and it'll probably be a crazy fight. As a reminder, please put any discussion of match results under spoiler tags until 24 hours after the episode airs out of consideration for people who can't watch the episode live, especially if you decide to watch the episode early on Discovery+ before it airs on TV. Showtime for us TV viewers is 8PM EST tonight on Discovery, about half an hour from the time of this post.

IT'S ROBOT FIGHTIN' TIME! The first round begins with Ribbot vs. Double Jeopardy

Thanks for the heads up. Hopefully this week there's at least an appreciable percent of the carnage inflicted in last week's episode.

Slammo got slammed and Pain Train got de-railed after about 30 seconds of action. The first three fights have been interesting, but HUGE vs. Deep Six is up next and that's going to be insane.

It wasn't as explosive as I was hoping, but Deep Six launched HUGE and chucked it out of the competition. Considering HUGE's pedigree and Deep Six's history of reliability issues (and tendency to blow itself up along with the opponent) I'd call that an upset.

I said the same thing about Hypershock last week, but holy shit this is the best I've ever seen Deep Six perform. Usually it either has reliability issues or causes double KO's, but now that the bot can actually survive the recoil of its massive weapon and stay alive, it's looking like a monster.

Can it continue its roll and beat Ribbot in the tournament finals though?

Two episodes down and two bounty bots conquered. Ribbot gets another dominant win and moves on to the tournament of champions!

It's a shame that not many other people showed up to chat as the episode aired this week compared to last week, but I know we have a couple who prefer to comment later on or who can't watch the episode for a day or two.

There's also the fact that anyone left with west coast time as their only option won't see the episode start for another hour.

i watched the rerun, then the new episode back 2 back. that's a lotta damage!

help me out here. was it just battlebot fatigue on my part 3 hrs in. or were the ep 2 robots not as good (at least not as fun) as the ep 1 bots?

Episode 1 was worthy of a Top 10 list for this latest iteration of the show. So it'll be difficult for following episodes to compare.

I wonder how different the ribbot fight would have been if the shot was lower.

I think Ribbot's armor could have tanked it with only minor damage, plus there was no way it would hit low enough to do anything to Ribbot's weapon.
