harley2280 posted... Don't buy that SSD for your PS5. It does not have a high enough read speed. You're going to get iffy performance from it. Stuff like that is why Microsoft overall more went with the memory card solution. Not so much the installation side of things but more that consumers need to know which ones to actually buy and install. It's not as simple as a USB HDD. The PS5 one is better for people who actually do their research though. In saying that I do wonder why it's still only one brand. He also adds this as a reason he wouldn't. We tried some below-spec Gen4 M.2 drives as well and saw up to 15% slower loading in the most SSD-stressing areas of the game. Not too shabby, but keep a close eye on technical specs if youre making an SSD purchase, as our game does rely on high-quality storage. https://twitter.com/fitzymj/status/1420825603784122371 --- PSN/GT: Harley2280 ... CableZL posted... Ah, that makes sense. When/if PCIe 4.0 becomes the standard, would that then allow people to get 3rd party PCIe4.0 drives and use them with XSX?Theoretically yes, assuming MS didn't do anything funny or prorietary with the physical interface to deviate from the Type-B standard. I haven't been able to inspect the contact pins / interface to make sure that MS is complying with the CFexpress Type-B spec. But CF express is quite young for a standard. CFexpress 1.0 standard was published on 2017/04-18 CFexpress 2.0 standard was published on 2019/02-28 2.0 added in Type-A & Type-C physical formats CFexpress 3.0 standard is still TBD, but they want to include PCIe 4.0. When will that happen? ::shrugs:: Go complain to CFexpress and tell them to get off their butts and hurry up with the 3.0 standard. But right now, with CFexpress in growth mode, it's still taking the Professional Camera world some time to adopt CFexpress format. Sony went with CFexpress Type-A due to it's physical similarity to Full Size SD cards. Everybody else went with Type-B. Nobody has adopted Type-C yet. --- Are you a MexiCAN or a MexiCAN'T - Johnny Depp 'Once Upon A Time in Mexico' ... Copied to Clipboard!

There would be no reason to move large games from drive to drive when the gaming performance is the same. And the slow transfers were only with a Xbox Series slow drive.
