Ive done a lot of work removing these utilities altogether, there is a push to get rid of them. Even if the raw counts of bacteria et al are lower on the fountain, you're also generally going to get a larger variety of pathogens because a bunch of different people are using it instead of just you, which creates a greater risk of being infected by something (particularly relevant in the wonderful world of Covid). --- This is my signature. Not many people are going around and checking to make sure someone is cleaning them everyday everywhere. A store manager might do it. Or might not care.
