There's a fair bit of media (including video games) where writers' view points are put in that almost break the 4th wall. The 3 and a 1/2 wall, if you will. You can write characters that break traditional gender norms without having to explicitly tell the viewer of such. It's more effective and natural. Kinda like Boys s3. You don't need to tell me you've got girl powah, just do your thing. The viewers will get it. And I know the Boys is inherently political and focused around the intersection of corporate power over governments and what's right and wrong, but they're almost 4th wall breaks and jarring af. Show, don't tell. Like Starlight and the Kimiko. Starlight tells and rarely shows, but Kimiko shows and rarely tells.
