I love the Stormlight books.
I struggle with audio books. If I solely listen to the book and nothing else I get anxious and antsy.
If I listen while doing something I tend to lose focus on the book.

Have you read the Blue Adept series?
It didn't age particularly well but the writing and world he built are really cool.
I'm a sucker for unique magic systems.

I've been reading some Edgar Rice Burroughs. Specifically, I finished At the Earth's Core and its first sequel.

The most recent book I've read though is The Warriors by Sol Yurick.

Both solid choices. I always preferred The Elenium trilogy over the Belgariad by Eddings for some reason. Probably because I just liked Sparhawk a lot as a character. You didn't see many middle age main protagonists at the time.

I recently re-read the Wheel of Time series to wash the awful taste out of my mouth that season 1 of the Amazon show left.

I'm currently in the middle of a Riftwar Saga re-read, but I'm probably going to drop it since I've already read the best parts imo. After the first generation of heroes (Arutha, Jimmy the Hand, Martin Longbow, Trask etc) pass on then it just gets a little repetitive. Their children and grandchildren just feel like cheap copies of their forebears.

I've been on a sci-fi kick too, on the 6th book of The Expanse. I'm probably going to take a break after since the next Locked Tomb book is out and I really want to read that one.

Blue Adept is very Sci-Fantasy. Space magic mixed with tech magic.

I like the Elenium, I'm just partial to the "coming of age" trope. The Mallorean saga felt very....weird tone wise.
Wheel of Time is still one of my all time favorites, and introduced me to Brandon Sanderson.

I've not read Riftwar, I'll have to check it out!

I've read the first 5 or 6 in that series. I liked them a lot, but I haven't read the latest one that came out a few years ago. I read his Man of His Word series as a kid and loved those too.

You're the first person I've met who's actually read them! I haven't read the most recent either.
Personally Sky of Swords was my favorite. The story being more focused on the daughter and Durendal was amazing to me.
You seem to have read a fair chunk of fantasy, maybe you could help. I vaguely remember a series about magic Swords and each sword had a different type of magic.
One could cut through anything, one made you immortal, etc.
Can never remember the titles.

I think I read one of these that was in the middle of the series. Something about a mirror, I think?

I remember it mostly because there's an bit where he meets an older version of himself who has the ability to travel through time. The old him is very clearly drinking Coke, but the young him is grossed out by the black, hissing liquid lol.

I have read a probably embarrassing amount of fantasy, yeah lol. Growing up, every weekend I'd go to half-price books and spend like $40 on random shit. I found a lot of my favorite authors that way.

I truly love them, and for someone of a pretty damn odd sect of Christianity, he writes an Atheist sensibly and logically. They're reasonable and not treated as a 'crazy' character from a narrative sense. Also the handling of mental health issues were done well when they get more focus later on.

Gonna be like 2 years until the next one comes out :(

The Discworld series is also fantastic.

Pratchett was a brilliant comedic mind and had lots of insightful things to say in several of his books about society/government/people etc.

Finally made myself read his last book, The Shepherd's Crown and adored it. Even if did seem unfinished and not fully fleshed out. But understandable, given what was going on with him.

Dragons of deceit was a pleasant experience once they got the ball rolling a bit, very nostalgic. The beginning felt a bit stilted though.

They recently released Robert Jordans first fantasy book as well, warriors of alaii or some such which I picked up as well. Apparently it was the manuscript that got him the Conan gigs.
