My point is, people are making a fuss about just teaching kids of the existance of gay people and trans people.

Then question, why is there a fuss for this when we teach kids that men and women go together?

Then pull it together that the answer for the last question is because it is a sexual topic.

Therefore, the people claiming that gay and trans issues shouldn't be taught are in turn, making the whole thing sexual when it doesn't need to be.

I think I see your point, and I think I agree. Im just having issues interpreting the bolded line, specifically the term go together.

If we tell kids it's ok for women and men to be together we should teach them about other orientations as well.

If we can't teach them about LGBTQ then we shouldn't teach them about men/women relationships. All or nothing.

stuff like dont say gay bill is wrong. Taking 5 year olds to a pride parade and have them see a guy in a thong doing hip thrusts is not right either.

the answer, as usual, lies in the middle. Perhaps you dont tell 5 year olds this is a guy who is sexually attracted to other men, like an outright thing. The key lies in normalizing.

you dont teach 5 year olds about sexual attraction or obergefell. No one has a heterosexuality topic in kindergarten or elementary school curriculums. These topics are just part of life and implied as normal, because they are normal.

homosexuslity is just that, a sexual orientation. You can be gay and not necessarily talk, dress or behave like say, Elton John. You could. But you could also be like the mountain from game of thrones and still like men.

so maybe you have some story books like Pinocchio, sleeping beauty, toy story, etc for the kids, and maybe one of those books is just like those but it happens to have two kings or a a female wizard that did whatever wizards in fairy tales do, but that happens to be married to another female wizard. Theyre not the main focus of the story, or delve into that, its just a normal secondary aspect to the story make it normal.

Generally speaking that would be ideal, but we don't live in an ideal world. We live in a world which demonizes LGBTQ+ people, and it is absolutely necessary to take measures to correct this. Properly educating children is a very important step to deprogramming society.

basically, that's why stuff like TOH or Steven Universe portraying same-sex relationships without calling it out as something different is important. Though there is a lack of male same-sex ones for major characters by comparison

If you compare how extreme each "side" in your argument is, the middle lies somewhere in the "calling gay people slurs is okay" territory.

I also think it's disingenuous to restrict this dialogue to 5 year old kids since the broader conversation incorporates ages through middle school.

We talk about crushes, cooties, kisses, and hugs from a very early age when talking about affection and attraction. Kids are exposed to these things when young, so I think they can handle same sex attraction and affection

As a part of sex ed, but I don't necessarily see why otherwise. I'd be all for schools teaching something about the fight for LGBT rights/acceptance as a part of history class but I don't see why it's necessary to teach them it exists. Between same sex relationships in media becoming more prevalent and access to the internet being more widespread, they're going to learn about this stuff by interacting with people in the LGBT community which is much healthier and more effective.

I mean, sure, slip it in there. Have activities that are inclusive of all types of families and relationships that normalize it. But if you're talking about specifically teaching about it for it's own sake? I probably would disagree.

Except on a larger scale we're talking about one side of the aisle wanting to censor all discussionof same sex relationships, regardless of if the subject comes up "organically" or not.

Are they taking their children to a pride event specifically to see guys hip thrusting in thongs? Would you be appalled if parents took a child somewhere that a scantily clad woman also happened to attend?

I was at a pride event two weeks ago. Yes, there were some people in very little clothing, but there was also a large youth area and most people in general were modestly dressed.

i dont know how anyone can object to a statement like kids should not see sexualized situations, whether Herero or not.

Because the younger you teach kids that those people exist, the harder it is to convince them that they're not worthy of the same human decency as everyone else.

That's why it's "wait until high school". Which turns into "wait until they're 18". Which turns into "We never had gay people in my schools!"
