Did you ever get COVID?

https://youtu.be/tvYbPJ5m9GY

Young people already feeling like they are in their seventies. Even walking up and down stairs is too much. Absolutely horrible.

I feel for them. I got that shit. And it did suck. I was worried I might end up with long term one, but didn't, not yet anyways.

Millions huh.
It's the first thing I bring up when I do the tired old bit where I justify still wearing a mask, but I thought it was rarer than that.

Got it back in late July, got over the worst of the symptoms a few days later. However, I had constant sinus drainage for about two months afterward. I feel fine, now.

i had it about two months ago for the first time. nothing but a scratchy throat and slightly nagging cough for a few days. felt 100% afterwards and onwards. feel bad for those still dealing with it, but ultimately nothing else is going to be done covid-related on a broad scale effort. those days are gone.

Shit's crazy inconsistent. I been to Vegas like six times since covid began, along with Florida twice, and several cramped sporting events like pens games too. Never had it. This includes several flights after the travel mask mandate was lifted. Not to mention the countless bars and restaurants I've been at for the past several years as well. All places without testing or mask requirements of any kind. Didn't once catch it.

THEN, a few months ago, I go to a teeny ass wedding (~125 people or so so maybe not "teeny" per se but it was small) where you were required to test negative before showing up at all AND before the actual ceremony. Managed to catch it there of all places.

Shit's wild.

A family member caught COVID and got over it last year. He recently gained a lot of weight over a short period of time despite being physically active (He's in construction and often goes hunting with his dog). He became tired quickly and would sometimes become incoherent. We just found out recently that the COVID had damaged his heart and he'll need a bypass surgery. All the weight gain was due to swelling since the right side of his heart wasn't pumping enough blood and oxygen. The doctors say it will be a long road to recovery.

I weighted 180-185lbs for 15 years, then gained over 100lbs the year after I caught covid.

I'm working my way back down, but that hit just about every aspect of my health.

COVID is a vascular disease - we've known this since the very beginning when the only way to test for it was to test for coagulation / inflammation labs like LDH, fibrinogen, D-dimer, ferritin, etc. They were all astonishingly elevated beyond any reason. It binds ACE-2 receptors which are vascular endothelial receptors. The pneumonitis is just one manifestation of the infection.

COVID has a profoundly high risk of deep venous thrombosis and pulmonary embolism because it causes tons of micro clots. I have no doubt that COVID also causes small brain infarcts (strokes) that are too small to be found on MRI but clearly add up - which would explain "COVID brain".

My dad got it a few months ago. He was already hard enough to understand from his post stroke lifestyle affecting his ability to speak, but now his voice is even softer. He's losing his hearing as well, so he turns his TV up to watch, doesn't turn it down to speak, and then you're left trying to understand what the fuck he said.

What are the odds that the millions of asymptomatic carriers still had years shaved off their life expectancy due to latent micro-clotting?

What a terrifying disease. And of course it had to become pretty much the most contagious thing known to man.
