Would you try vegan steak that is primarily made out of peas?

https://www.cnbc.com/2022/10/24/beyond-meats-steak-substitute-coming-to-grocery-stores.html
Beyond Meat is launching a steak substitute in grocery stores on Monday.

The new product will roll out nationwide at more than 5,000 Kroger and Walmart stores, as well as Albertsons, Ahold Delhaize, Jewel-Osco, Sprouts and other local grocers.

Amid the chaos, Beyond and Yum Brands Taco Bell started testing meatless carne asada using its Beyond Steak product at restaurants in Dayton, Ohio.

The Beyond Steak that will be sold in grocery stores comes packaged in bite-sized pieces. It uses faba bean protein as its base and contains 21 grams of protein per serving, according to the company. It also has lower saturated fat content than beef steak and contains no cholesterol. The 10-ounce package will retail for $7.99.

I've eaten Impossible meat and it serves its purpose. Looks and tastes close enough to the real thing. Ironically the Impossible Whopper is the only thing from Burger King that doesn't make my toilet look post-apocalyptic.

Don't a lot of people give up eating meat because of all the factory farming cruelty involved or the absurd amount of resources needed to produce meat compared to veggies? Not necessarily because they dislike eating meat.

Very few people actually stop eating meat because they don't like the taste. People who avoid it for health, ethical, and environmental reasons might enjoy this.

Also, these products aren't for people who eschew meat altogether. Their target demographic is meat eaters.

Anyway, this isn't anything I couldn't make out of seitan for much cheaper, so I wouldn't buy it. Would try it if given though.

https://www.livekindly.com/beyond-burger-statistics-meat-eaters/

According to Ethan Brown, 93 percent of people purchasing the Beyond Burger are not vegan or vegetarian.

In a recent interview with CNBC, Brown revealed that most of the customers purchasing the brands plant-based patty which looks, cooks, and tastes like beef are actually meat-eaters. People are even buying the burger alongside real meat products, which Brown sees as a really important breakthrough.

He explained, tens of millions of dollars have been invested into researching this product and making it better and making it more real meat like. He added, I think we are 99 percent of the way there. Its close enough that people eating it enjoy it the same way that they enjoy actual ground beef.

The patty is more environmentally-friendly than beef, producing 90 percent fewer gas emissions than its cow-derived counterpart. It also uses 46 percent less energy, 99 percent less water, and 93 percent less land.

Beyond Meat is failing super hard, they will probably go under soon

https://finance.yahoo.com/news/beyond-meat-introduces-beyond-steak-shares-down-more-than-80-year-to-date-123544294.html

The product launch comes as shares of the company are under pressure, down nearly 80% year-to-date.

Last week, the brand announced plans to cut 19% of its global workforce. This included letting go its Chief Operating Officer Doug Ramsey, who was arrested in late September for allegedly biting a man's nose inside an Arkansas parking garage following a University of Arkansas football game.

On October 18, Beyond Meat and plant-based food maker Don Lee settled a dispute over a previous partnership after a nearly 3 and a half year battle. Both companies "entered into a a confidential written settlement agreement and mutual release," according to court filings. "Both sides are satisfied with the outcome."

most people who give up meat don't do it because they don't like meat

anyway, Beyond products are pretty hit or miss in my experience. I'd say it has a 50/50 chance of being good given their track record. Impossible is just way better at fake meat

I'd try it. Depends on cost, though. Most plant-based "meat" isn't any cheaper. I don't know about it's healthiness, either, because of how processed it is. I don't eat as much meat anymore and view it as a treat, especially steak.

Mmmm chicken.

If you find you eat a lot of fast food fries, you can always buy a bag of russet potatoes (insanely cheap), cut them into cubes, and roast them in the oven with a tiny bit of oil. It tastes so indulgent but is so much better for you than fast food fries.

This is a good way to continue to eat "meat" without having the negative health effects.

For some reason I thought it'd be a full steak and not "pre-cut" pieces.

If these plant-based meat mimics take off, this would mean the mass reduction of the population of cows. Eventually real beef would cost so much money that only the rich would be able to afford it.
