Dude is an unfunny turd whether he was in the right about this one specific incident or not.

The guy genuinely intrigues me.

Ostensibly he's done nothing wrong on the whole. No, I don't care for reddit gossip mill stories, I've never met the guy nor served him food. I don't keep up to date with celebrity drama. His show is mostly kinda wholesome. The people on it seem to like him. Him being funny or not is subjective, there's lots of people who are on TV who don't have great comedy timing or whatever, so what.

And yet, he just sits in the peak of uncanny valley of unlikability. There's just something inexplicably off about him. Like he is a member of the reptilian race, attempting to emulate what a compassionate human being behaves like. It's hard to imagine someone more unlikeable and yet I can't really define why.

It isn't a mistake.

I don't know much about him, or pay any attention to him. However, I'm pretty sure that if he's telling the truth and someone served his wife food that she's allergic to 3 time in a row, at that point a member of the staff should be fired, not him being banned.

There's never an excuse to be rude to restaurant staff, even if a mistake was made.

I think the video you liked explains really well why people want to dislike him when they hear rumors and stuff. It just send genuinely believable that he would do it, since his manner is such an uncanny act. I've seen him in some bits on UK TV before he went to America, and to my recollection he was completely different. Which isn't weird, UK audiences will prefer a different tone. But even more it just shows his plasticity, like I haven't the foggiest idea about how he actually is as a person.

I always find that the one thing you never want to include in a sincere apology is an explanation for why you did what you did.

Haha I like this description of him. His carpool with karaoke is genuinely wholesome (especially the paul mccarnty one who he apparently had to twist his leg to participate in) at the same time...kind of off? Hard to explain. There's just something sinister about him I can't put into words.

James Corden is pretty much in a Chevy Chase situation in that I've read too many stories about him being an asshole from people who have met him to think this is just one isolated incident.

Yeah this dude is lying. Either it had nothing to do with his wife's food allergy or he didn't tell the restaurant about it.

The second incident allegedly occurred earlier this month and involved the egg omelet and a side salad for Corden's wife. McNally wrote that moments after the comedian and his wife received their food, "James called their server, M.K. and told her there was a little bit of egg white mixed with the yolk."
The unidentified server reported the complaint to the restaurant manager and the kitchen remade the dish.
The second time around, the omelet was prepared according to Corden's orders but arrived with fries instead of the requested salad. According to McNally's post, the accidental switch sent Corden over.
"James Corden began yelling like crazy to the server: 'You can't do your job! You can't do your job! Maybe I should go into the kitchen and cook the omelet myself!'"
After the late-night personality's alleged outbursts, the manager offered free glasses of Champagne to the couple to "smooth things out."

I dunno it was other celebrities who hated Chevy Chase. Had anyone called out Corden like that? I think at most he's like Ellen. Even then he didn't seem to have any controversies with his staff over the pandemic like she did.

I'm not entirely sure this is the case one hundred percent of the time, though I would say it is true most of the time. I think that in some cases when the details of someone's bad behavior in a particular situation are not completely clear that they can give a quick explanation followed by an apology and an acknowledgment that their reasoning was wrong.

It seems to be the case that most people that are not sincere (as Corden is not in virtually every aspect of his life) seem to default to explaining things in a tactless manner that conveys that they are not actually sorry.
