Also something I realized a few years back, a middle school gym teacher asking me if I masturbate or not was 100% red flag grooming but I was too young to even realize it. He was asking me a lot of questions about what I do after school and I was just being a sarcastic asshole to him the entire convo giving him non-answers because I didn't want to be talking to him at all.

He never really tried to talk to me after that which I was glad for. >_>

i never knew just how common people trying to groom actual minors was until i started working in law. I always knew it happened but like making the news every time it happened thing. This shit is much more widespread and really sad

I dunno but one of my high school teachers married not 1 but 2 of his former students. Pretty sure neither was over 22 when he married them.

My female Latin teacher got caught sleeping with a student when I was a senior & nothing happened because the guy never contacted the cops, but it was known around school.

She was still teaching a decade later last I knew.

She's pregnant with our 3rd child. Im still scared to leave her.

Three, actually. I mean only one was a pedo technically (fourth grade teacher, she hit on the big boy in the class all the time. Must have been held back once or twice because he was way more developed than the rest of us)

Then my HS biology teacher would always hit on girls in class, like when he was talking about the genetics of eye color he'd go over to this girl in the front and he said "Take Sarah for instance, she's got these beautiful brown eyes"

Damn. It really is this common? I wasn't in school a lot. I thought it was just another thing where we all spread the worst of it and it makes it seem more common. That's depressing.

Mine got caught trying to leave his wife for a 15 year old student. It was on the news that they had a warrant out for his arrest and to call if anyone had info. We're pretty sure he fled to Mexico.

And I don't think they ever caught him because looking it up doesn't have any info beyond the attempted arrest from back then.

I had two teachers in school that were outed as predators.

• Geometry teacher: Didn't actually know she was a predator until after I graduated. Heard she had sex with one of her students, bought him a phone and other shit. She was fired but I don't think she was ever arrested or anything.
• Math lab teacher: He was a younger 20 year old guy straight out of college. A lot of the girls liked him, and would constantly spend time in his room. One girl in particular was a freshman (so like 15 or 16 years old) and would talk about inappropriate subjects like his past relationships and dating. The school didn't like the direction this was going, and he only lasted one semester there. I'm not sure if the guy did anything outside of tell people about his past relationships, but he shouldn't have allowed the conversations to go past a certain point.

Looks like he died about ten years ago at the age of 70.

Is that not how it is everywhere in the US? We had just the one PE teacher and health teacher who'd sort of handle girl problems

In retrospect I have no fucking idea how my school district didn't get investigated multiple times over. Only one of them ended up being acknowledged publicly. All of these examples were just from my four years in high school.

• One science teacher got in trouble for making really inappropriate jokes to girls and rearranging seating plans later in the year so that most of the girls would be near the air conditioning
• One Latin teacher got fired after he got caught looking at porn while proctoring a test
• One English teacher got fired three months into his first year after he added multiple students on Facebook and repeatedly hit on them
• One coach was rumored to be hitting on students and after he transferred to a different school, got fired + arrested + narrowly avoided prison time for grooming and being in a "relationship" with a student

Our English teacher freshman year was this lady, skinny, short dark hair, kinda looked like Joan Jett. She had an obvious thing for one of the guys in the class. She called him good looking several times in class and would do it in sort of a soft seductive tone. He would blow it off and act like he didn't even like her to the rest of us but he did stay after a few times.

Music production teacher at my school married a girl the year after she graduated. He was like 40 years old. From what I know he was never fired or investigated. Real scummy shit.

There was a student teacher/assistant coach that started at when I was in high school. He was totally a stoner. That much was obvious, but then rumors started that he was sleeping with a classmate of mine. We were 16 at the time. They were spending a lot of time together, and the other teachers ignored it. A few years later and on her 18th birthday they both *suddenly* fell deeply in love and officially got together.

I don't know what happened to him. He was still working there a few years later to my knowledge. But I saw her year or two back, unrecognizable and strung out on drugs. Seemed completely ruined.

There was another that happened to me. I took a trade school class my junior year of high school. I took horticulture and things were ok for the most part at first. But the teacher grew to dislike me, and treat me unfairly. Like one time our class was tasked with relocating a ton of gravel. He told me to get it done while the rest of the class took a free period. I shoveled and wheelbarrowed gravel for the entire class(2.5 hours). My hands were blistered and bloody by the time class ended.

Anyways, near the middle of the year he kept pulling me aside for side projects rather than the main class. Sometimes he'd come watch... And say inappropriate things. Like when I was assembling the water system for a greenhouse. "Yeah, that's right. Screw it in there. Are you screwing it? Hehe... Making it hard? Keep screwing it till it gets hard." then later stuff like "Oh, you're making it squirt now. Oh! Oh! Ohhh! Yeah, that's the right spot, make it spray! Are you leaking? I'm leaking so much. Wow, you squirted so hard that I'm soaked. Look how wet you made me."

It just made me totally uncomfortable, so I approached my principle about dropping his class. But he refused, it was way too late in the year. Then he was asking me why I wanted out, but I was too embarrassed to say, and upset that I was stuck, so I just told him to forget it and left. Well, he didn't forget it. He must've asked him about it, because from them on my horticulture teacher hated me. At the end of the year he deleted all my grades from his records and flunked me. Reported to my main school that I skipped class everyday and never did any work. But my actual teachers knew me better than that and knew something was off. But I skipped the last 2 weeks of school that year anyway as I was too much of an emotional mess to deal with it. His was the only class I was supposed to attend anyway, and I'd already flunked... So I didn't see a reason to go back. They must've figured it out and fixed the problem though, as at graduation the next year I was apparently supposed to go graduate his class despite all that, and dropping it the next year.

Pretty sure that guy is dead now. He was old back then, in his 60's. That happened 20 years ago, and I'm pretty sure I heard that both him and his wife died several years ago.

Retired from teaching/coaching but still working (a non school job). Students knew something was going on but didn't think to report him. I'd blame that on this taking place in a small town and not some city.

*All kinds of shit happens in small towns that wouldn't fly in more urban areas and that continues to be the case, though people have gotten slightly more aware

Both middle school & high school where I lived had multiple gym teachers (male and female) so that no creepy locker room shit happened, and PE was a big mixed class 'taught' by 2 or 3 people at the same time.

I had a female biology teacher who flirted with some of the guys, but I don't know of anything more than that happening in her case.
