Level design is honestly really bad in this game.

I like the game so far but there's a lot wrong with it. I don't feel like the enemy encounters were this annoying in the first. Also the dodge is complete ass. The initial side step dodge is borderline useless. Only the roll means shit and the timing to dodge for every attack is exactly the same.

Parrying makes the game more fun but every other hit is an unparryable attack. The lock on fucking sucks. Every small enemy is annoying as fuck to fight.

The game is at its best when you're fighting one big enemy without distractions cuz then you don't really have to worry about the movement so much.

my only real gripe with the game is that it takes too long to get from point A to point B.

it often makes sense when there's dialogue to flesh out the narrative, but from a gameplay feel, it's pads out the length.

besides that, I really enjoy it.

I got locked out of a nornir chest by going down the wrong path, and I still havent gone back to get it because it took so long to get to

Man random fights really feel so much harder than they should. These big ice dudes are 2 hitting me again

Not sure if the first one was like this but this game feels to focus tested in terms of level design and exploration. They only want us to go one way marked by white paint and if we stray we got characters yapping to move on.

The lack of alternate paths and the press one button to do all parkour really just feels like were just one big loading screen between cutscenes. I dont enjoy the in between moments like I did because I want more of the story.

I still enjoy the game, but this is one big reason why I love the souls series as they are and dont want Fromsoftware to change it to mimic triple A titles.

Wait, I'm actually truly stuck. I'm in the Abandoned Village area during the day. Picked up some things I missed. I legit can't get back. There are dead ends everywhere. The way I went is blocked by a zip-line going up. There are no boat stops or mystic gateways anywhere near me. What the actual fuck.

The first game had that issue too, but the little backtracking I've done in this one indicates that it's way worse. The first one had the benefit of the Lake of Nine acting as a major connecting point between many areas. And maybe I'm misremembering, but I feel like it was also far more generous with its fast travel points.

Oh it was. Go ahead and open up the Vanaheim map and notice that THE ENTIRE NORTHERN HALF of the main area has ZERO mystic gateways. I thought if I tracked one of them my compass would guide the way like it does with sidequests but nope! It's a static spot. I truly have no fucking idea how I'm supposed to get back.

Yeah, the Applecore area in Svartalfheim was the pain in the ass for me so far. Near as I can tell, there's no way all the way through it. I started at the end of it and only made it partway through before hitting a dead end, meaning I had to backtrack all the way back out.

At least you found a way.

It was a spear hole that I never saw. I remember complaining earlier about objects blending in too much, turns out that is a rather common complaint.

I believe you can change that in the accessibility settings. I think I saw a tip about it during a loading screen.

If I have to change settings like that, they've failed their job. Noticing things isn't a problem for me but it is a problem only for this game.

Oh man, this is sad. The Ballad of Jari and Somr sidequest that starts at the rainbow fire in Midgard is a tribute to a relationship between two of the devs, Jake Snipes and Sam Handrick. Jake passed away in 2020.

Nidhogg felt a little half baked tbh. I think it's the first boss I haven't liked. Still very early on tho it seems, but so far I've liked the bosses and mini-bosses.

I was not expecting to tear up, let alone actually cry. Holy fucking shit this was a masterpiece. 11/10.

anyway, I laughed so hard when Brok was like, "what the fuck" when Atreus turned into a bear, and started wilding.

Yoooo I just arrived on Asgard and I got super into the game again. I saw the giant wall and legit expected the big golden palaces from the MCU. When I saw it was just a small village, and Odin's house was a wooden lodge my jaw dropped. I also didn't expect Heimdall there. Guess I thought it was gonna be Idris Elba lol.

Felt like Heimdall was too easy of a fight

I beat the entire game and the optional bosses without anything other than basic r1 attacks and runic attacks/relics. The stuff is more or less just there if you wanna use it to feel fancy lol

The classic problem with RPGs. The bosses that should be epic and hard are always easy because by the time you get to them you've had access to enough side content to make the game trivial.

Im not even over leveled though. I mean Ive done most of the side quests, except the Berserker stuff.

But I died so much more to random cannon fodder on the way to him lol

That's true. It kinda makes sense though when you consider he probably relies almost entirely on people not being able to hit him so he never really had to learn to fight.

Thats fair I did like that they made it a factor for the fight. Just wish he had a bigger move set I guess.

That hidden cave with the raven and chest in Forbidden Sands was dumb to find. I actually had to look up how to find them since I was searching for like an hour.

The worst part was, I thought to myself I should try hitting the rubble but figured it wouldn't work so I didn't bother. Searched a bunch longer before looking it up and realizing thats exactly what you were supposed to do...

Yeah as much as I loved the character that he was with in there it does drag on a little bit

So King Hrolf has this unblockable attack where he leaps in the air and does this arena wide clap attack filled with bifrost. The hell am I supposed to do about that?

Thanks, I never really threw my axe if it wasn't for ravens, puzzles, and out of reach enemies and it never staggered them like that before.

Also, just platinumed this! It was worth every bit of time I spent.
