Board 8 > SNL Discussion Topic: the season without most of the funny people

surely there's other people on this board that still watch SNL

I'm still one of them for some reason but this season is trying its best to stop me from doing that

Can't say there's really been a good episode yet. I mean usually SNL is very hit/miss but these last two episodes in particular have been especially rough. Jack Harlow just cannot act and I don't find Amy Schumer very funny. There's been some gems here and there but it's been pretty impossible to not feel the absence of half the cast here.

The cast members that are left are pretty much all solid and there are some funny ideas even on sketches that didn't fully come together so hopefully this season can still be good

The sketch was a mess of ideas without much direction but Andrew Dismukes himself is hilarious and Heidi trying to hold composure while acting over the top was great

I try and catch YouTube clips every week as well as weekend update which is normally solid. I'm always most curious about the new cast members. I'm sold on Michael, wait and see with Devon, and haven't seen enough of Marcello and Molly. I think the cast member I miss the most is Chris Redd. I also miss Alex Moffat because it means no more Guy Who Bought A Boat.

Also, that David S. Pumpkins skit was a really sad, worse version of the original sketch.

so I've kinda gone into this week's Dave Chappelle episode with mixed feelings. Chappelle was one of my favorite comedians once, and it's gone pretty significantly downhill in recent years

a 15-minute opening monologue was definitely excessive and you could absolutely tell the crowd was getting uncomfortable at times

but some of the sketches were pretty good! I particularly liked the Black Heaven sketch, that was definitely Chappelle doing what works best with his style and was a cool callback to Mikey Day's old Wild 'n Out stuff, which I loved growing up

also Weekend Update is one of the best things about SNL consistently and Sarah Sherman is making it so much better
