Partly sounds like he blundered a conversation about ethnocentrism and implicit bias, but that requires a bit of benefit of the doubt, idk.

I think generally you need to be self aware about your ability to convey yourself properly before having these conversations. So even in the "best case scenario, all benefit of the doubt given" scenario he was being deeply irresponsible.

It's funny to see this after a 100 post topic on 261 about how the left is brainwashing students and spouting politics even at the high school level. It's always always projection.

The way it started off seemed like it might have been taken out of context. Then my guy doubled down. Bonus points for thinking he should be respected by the kids he percives as lesser beings.

I met a woman on a dating app a couple years ago... It wasn't until a few months in that she revealed she was a huge bigot. She also believes that "everyone is racist" garbage.

I personally do believe that a good majority might have some tiny of bit of racial bias. Not intentionally though and definitely not actually equating to a full-blown racist. Like thinking your race is superior or some absurd racist bullshit like that.

Implicit bias is a thing.

Racist love saying everyone else is racist.

Like how assholes justify their asshole nature by saying..oh everyone is like this, I am just open about it. So with this stuff. They think because they are racist everyone else must be, because if they were not then they might have to take a look at themselves .

Insisting that everyone else "really" holds the same view as your own is usually just a way of trying to water down your own personal accountability. "If everyone's guilty, then no one is, really."

Good that racists are exposing themselves easier to weed them out of positions they have influence over other people especially students. Good riddance.

The idea that all or most people have some degree of racial bias, even if they never speak it, makes sense to me.

But I have a very unromantic view of people in general.

Is my dismal view of people just projection? Could be.

It almost doesn't matter, because a persons perception is their reality.

Whatever the case, the teacher ought to be fired. Polite society should probably be maintained, even if people really aren't so polite.

I remember in high school a substitute teacher walked up to my friends and I on our lunch break and started talking about horses being put down to stud. It was an odd conversation. Then he caps it off with that this is also why black people are athletic. When they were slaves they were put down to stud so the fittest of the pack would be bred.

Even though we live in Australia where White Australians separated children from Aboriginal families to try and erase their culture.

We knew the guy was racist back (and really fucking weird) then because of how blatant it was. But we were a bunch of white Aussie boys who were mostly ignorant about that stuff. Probably loads of stuff we heard over the years that didn't register.

I really feel for those black students. Your teacher is someone you look up to, a role model, you put blind trust into them. When they say shit like this, in such a calm and serious tone, its probably traumatizing. Like those are kids and they're going to assume that many people share this view, and that just hurts ones self esteem. Its one thing if you hear about racists on the news or hear crazy people in the streets say things, but it means something more when its from your own teacher. So fuck that guy, hope he gets fired and fucking banned from teaching every again.
