Been here on business for a few days now and there's nothing but homeless people, junkies, and drifters all over the place. Dallas has them too, but at least they're not as invasive as the ones residing here.

Just wtf happened here?

Also, why the fuck do these stores close at 9:00? Lol

Great scenery, though.

Yo, that drive from Albu's Airport to SaFe was a mood. Hella speed traps, but I enjoyed passing what looked to be a deserted town.

The Land of Enchantment alright.

Saw some homeless dude throw his burger at the store's window because he wanted chicken. Lmao

The funny thing is that the manager of the place just walked outside, picked up the pieces, threw them into the trash and then walked back inside... all while the other dude was talking his shit now standing across the street.

I'm sure they had this altercation before.

It gets worse the farther south you go in New Mexico. While you are there, stop by an Allsups and get a Chimi. You'll thank me later.

I mean, we have Allsups in Texas, but the Chimis HERE are indeed, legitness.

On Saturday, one of the locals who also works on the new home jobsite invited us to some Spanish nightclub/restaurant or something for a few beers... I figured, fuck it.

Fucking smallest, crowded dance floor I've ever been to lmao! After a few beers, I went to the men's room to take a leak where I'm greeted by some chick servicing folks, and some guy wanting to sell me some 'dandruff' in little hotsauce baggies. Is this the famed NM green Chile this state is known for?

Look, y'all I'm just tryna piss.

Going to Arizona in April! That said New Mexico is still on my bucket list. Resort in Santa Fe and a trip to Roswell to see the alien shit. Fuck yeah!

That said Im Canadian so my view of the desert states is probably a lot different than the typical American. I see it as paradise lmao.

Roswell is a shithole lol.

If youre going to the SE part of the state, youre better off going to White Sands or Carlsbad Cave or the ski areas/mountains around Cloudcroft and Ruidoso.

I missed my chance to go skiing here, being THIS close to the mountains. I left all of my ski stuff back in my garage... and the snow is already thawing.

Next time when I return to the home's trim-out stage, I'll be ready. BIG FACTS.

Ah... same. It's definitely an acquired taste. I love it. As much as it pains me to admit it, SaFe's cloudy sunsets behind that mountainous horizon > Dallas flat af sunsets.

Bars are surprisingly nice, as well as it's art scene. I'm told that I need to be here during early fall to really enjoy the nightlife (Only during the weekend cuz, you know, curfew. <_< )

Theft is so rampant here they even walled off certain sections of stores only accessible by employees.

A few more gripes... The service here could use some attention. Waiters and staff drag their feet to do anything. What the fuck

I've never seen so many slow as fuck Subaru drivers in one area in my life. Also, everything went up in price here just apparently.

It's a nice place to visit. Walking around Paseo de Peralta or just cruising down Cerillos Rd hits different after a a day of work.

Shout-out to Chopstix restaurant. Very delicious for the price.

As a person from Roswell, I can attest from this. It's even gotten worse over the years. The crime rate has been so bad, it's almost on par as Albuquerque.

I've been to every city mentioned so far and Gallup wasn't at the top for me. It would be Deming, Lordsburg or Rosewell, then Gallup. I liked Taos, Tucumcari, Silver City...plenty others.

In the NW,Navajo region there are some really run down and expensive stops on the highways.

Mark up in costs, the motels are drug dens and the campsite to the east overlooking it was full of people living there looking to rip someone off. Just my experience, back in 04'.

Unless you live here you don't know shit about NM except the bad stuff. I've lived here my whole life and managed to avoid most of the fuck ups here. That's why I don't live in ABQ/Santa Fe area.

Gallup is certainly a shit hole but I love the land up there.

Southern part of the state around Ruidoso Cloudcroft is good.

Then certain cities have sections of niceness. Overall it's the LAND of enchantment nothing ever mentioned people in that fucking slogan.

I often find myself looking at real estate in Albuquerque (Definitely a city boy) just because of how affordable it is compared to where I am now. Plus I love the pueblo style houses.

But when I surveyed people here about the southwest everyone said Arizona>NM>>>West Texas so I find myself dialing it back a bit.

I'm currently looking at a couple Adobe houses right now. West Texas is probably crazy because of the oil fields. El Paso is a really cheap city to leave in for it's size. Haven't thought about it yet but I might have to broaden my search down there and find a new IT job which should be easy there.

Arizona is gonna be hit or miss depending on where you look but I don't know enough about it.

Yeah El Paso looks nice enough for the cost, but as a Canadian not 100 % sure I'm ready for nonsensical Texas politics. Plus weed isn't legal yet unlike the other three states with deserts in them, although I'll never be able to afford California lmao.

AZ based people I've spoken to seem to prefer Tempe, Chandler and Mesa over Scottsdale, Glendale and actual Central Phoenix when it comes to the cities. Also apparently everyone loves Flagstaff and Sedona but hate this tiny place called Bisbee. At least those are my takeaways. Going to the valley in the spring so I'll be able to get a clearer picture then.

Time flew by, damn. I decided to be home for Thanksgiving only to return here again on Monday. I'm leaving tomorrow at 4 a.m and I just finished loading up my long ass trailer full of mats, tools, ladders, etc.

Two of us decided to stay (They must have nobody at home who loves them or something lmao). This house isn't going anywhere and they won't finish it all in five days. But, they're grown men who made their choices and I won't fight them on this. I did have them sleep in the same room (2 beds) after I checked out our other two rooms.

I can see why people are flocking to Santa Fe now, but sadly the real native locals are paying the price.
