Leroy appealed to me immediately. The goofy, ugly lizard latched onto Bloodfruit the first time we met him, and in doing so spawned "Chip, please" as Bloodfruit cannot resist such a simple, reasonable request from a little friendly being, no matter how many times she's asked. Fun fact: he would NOT be the only small being to latch onto Bloodfruit and beg her endlessly for snacks.

Leroy would actually go on to be the familiar of Traci, a magical girl we would later rescue, only for Saoirse to take over as her resident bff. To this day I've still interacted with Traci less than I probably should've at this point (but the same can be said for like 100 other people, seriously I don't know where you all find the time/energy) but I'd like to think that little bond has stuck between Bloodfruit and Leroy ever since.

Hint for #42: This character was ALSO featured in a popular DC movie from the last 5 years!

42. Harley Quinn

Scarlet is simultaneously at an advantage and disadvantage when it comes to roleplaying Harley Quinn. The advantage is she's perhaps one of the most predominantly recognizable characters in the campaign, with her behavior and mannerisms being at the forefront of pretty much everything DC has put out in the last 15 years. She's one of the most beloved characters in the expanded DC universe right now, and really all that needs to be done to make her lovable is just do the character justice.

That being said, BECAUSE she's such a huge icon, there's also inevitably pressure to not mess her up. Nobody's gonna call out someone like Bambi of the Babe Squad if she's portrayed outside of initial expectations (well, they wouldn't, they might now), but Harley Quinn comes into the campaign with an almost unfair level of assumptions of how she should be.

That all being said: yeah, Harley Quinn is great. Of course she is. She's equal parts precious and maniacal and may very well kill you but she'll still convince you she's doing it with the best of intentions as she's doing it.

Bonus shoutout to the time Bloodfruit mentioned going to see Harley as a therapist to Green Lantern John Stewart and he yelled at her.

Intriguing

Mantle Feeder was just an ocean monster. We had a joke because JB requested Mantle Feeder to be in the gauntlet. Nobody else wanted it in the gauntlet. At some point later, when JB got Mantle Feeder in the gauntlet, he asked what it was.

Mantle Feeder was a cool encounter where we had a giant sea serpent to deal with while on boats, but it was basically juts a punishment for not getting a submarine before going to Japan.

Anyway, the joke is that Mantle Feeder is one of JB's favorite characters, and we like to rag on him for it.

But what about the fire javelin?

Bloodfruit uses javelins to fight and I guess the fire one got stuck in the Mantle Feeder so she lost it

Nobody cares about the Fire Javelin. It's Bloodfruit's lamest Javelin.

Not nearly as good as James K. Poke or Game of Throwns.

The best javelin-related moment of the campaign came when we were in Baltimore and heard word of some Society villain who was in town who used javelins, and then Silhouette made a streetwise role to think of who that might be.

"A villain know for using Javelins? Well... it's Javelin."

Bloodfruit has lost 2 of her 4 javelins

One was eaten by Mantle Feeder and one was lodged in an equated polar bear that ran away

Also the best Javelin moment was Javelin stabbing one of Rosetta/Pepper (for some reason I can never remember which it was) in the back with a Javelin that turned out to be a Javelin specifically made for sneak attacks

For reference that is the same Javelin now stuck in a polar bear somewhere

41. Blue Devil

People got the color pun but didn't land on quite the right guess!

Blue Devil is in kind of a funny spot when it comes to Bloodfruit. They're both characters that immediately stand out in a crowd, even a crowd as diverse as the Oblivion Bar. Particularly around magic folk, they both have certain characteristics tied to their race that are nearly impossible to ignore. These things, in an ideal world, should draw the two together, but their personalities are pretty distinctly at odds at times.

Blue Devil has a sense of humor and compassion down deep, but hidden between thick layers of easily-infuriable brimstone. Bloodfruit, on the other hand, is kind of the opposite: bubbly and jovial on the outside with occasionally overwhelming darkness and sorrow buried beneath. With Bloodfruit off doing her own things and Blue Devil off training Brennus, the two don't interact too much anymore, but fun fact: Blue Devil was one of the first characters I ever interacted with outside of session! Waaaaay back, before I had powers, before I even really settled into the name of Bloodfruit. He was a character that appealed to me, both as a player and as a character, pretty much immediately.

Hint for #40: This character is an antagonist somewhere out in the world.

Oh I thought he left after the Catman reveal.

Deadshot stuck around, but now he cries about polar bears. Also we rescued his daughter.

Catman moved to the spring where he mourned for a bit, but after some time, Saoirse visited him and he expressed that he has realized what Batman saw in him - they are the same. They are vengeance..

So Catman got some measure of revenge by telling Deadshot's daughter about Deadshot killing his friend's pride of lions.

40. Lord Death Man

Lord Death Man is the Skeletor of the campaign, and NOT because he looks like a skeleton. I mean... it's KIND OF because he looks like a skeleton, but still.

He's over the top, in every sense of the phrase. Look at his face. Look at his name. It'd be funny how ridiculously goofy evil he was, if he wasn't at the same time one of the most underrecognized mass threats looming over the campaign right now. Literally! He looms over everything in a blimp themed after himself!

Lord Death Man appeared in Tokyo in what can only be called an EXPLOSIVE entrance. Get it? Because he exploded. And killed dozens of civilians. And then un-exploded himself. Yep, he's a death-obsessed, unkillable mass murderer.

Lord Death Man is terrifying if you look at him objectively for what he's capable of, but at the same time it's hard to look at him objectively when he's floating over you laughing at the misfortune of all the tiny people below like he's Seto Kaiba. And it's great. Every time there's mention of that blimp I can't help but think "LORD DEATH MAN! WE'RE GONNA FIGHT LORD DEATH MAN!"
