These are the songs that make you reflect on your own life. Brings back the memories of when you were younger, and sometimes leaves an empty feeling in your stomach of how quickly time has passed. How old we have become. Sometimes I find it really hard to listen to these songs.

Finally, even though I have never played Chrono Cross I remember going on a website when I was a kid called "Anime theme" and the guy there made an online rpg for people to play, using this theme. It always captured me, and I have fond memories of it.

My Dad's a big Fleetwood Mac fan and this song always unlocks a random memory of me and him driving down the highway on a Saturday afternoon while this is playing in the car when I was like 6 or 7

There's a lot of early/mid-90's songs that I'm not necessarily nostalgic or sentimental about, but I hear them so rarely that whenever I DO hear them now, I'm instantly transported to the times when they were "new" songs, and I think of how much simpler my life was. How I had my whole future ahead of me.

A few of the lesser known songs from the Pearl Jam "Vs" abd Vitalogy albums do that for me. I was REALLY into the first three PJ albums, but the don't get a lot of rotation in my current playlists, so whenever I hear the less popular songs from those albums, I get that feeling of being back in High School, with all the anxiety that came with being a 14-15 year old.

Then there's songs that I have attached to specific memories, like "These are the Days" by 10,000 Maniacs, because it was the last song played at my wedding. Bridge Over Troubled Waters, because it makes me think of my Mom who passed away a few years ago. We used to sing it a lot to each other when I was young.

Christmas time gets me like that as well, as "Someday at Christmas" by Stevie Wonder gets heavy airplay on the radio station where I work, and it was my Dad's favorite Christmas song.

Final Fantasy and a smattering of similar JRPGs were a huge influence on my adolescence and young adulthood, and Kingdom Hearts 2 was the last game in this vein that I 'loved,' as in it actually moved me emotionally (I enjoyed FF 12, and will defend the excellence of certain aspects of it, but it never really moved me like its predecessors). This was a particular beautiful and melancholy song from the soundtrack, and as the years went on it started to represent a sort of closing of that chapter of my life.

The Pokemon GSC OST is the big one for me. Mostly town themes, especially Goldenrod City. The city itself just has that flashback/nostalgia look to it.

Soul as red as a ground cherry from Touhou 6 makes me miss that feeling of exploration when I first discovered the series.

Shin Onigashima and Butter Building from SSBB reminds me of that game's pre-release days. Those were the best. Brawl in general has this feeling now, parts of the main theme if I haven't listened to it in long enough too. It finally being released was the definitive end of something although it's hard to be precise about what. I miss the overwhelming optimism and enthusiasm I was surrounded with during the pre-release days, good dojo updates, collectively mocking bad dojo updates, trailers, flash movies, old YT streams full of ytps/yugioh abridged/Japanese reuploads/dumb fads, looking into Nintendo franchises I was less familiar with while waiting, early online and all that.
It's the best argument for not knowing what you have until it's gone, at the time 2007/half of 08 were like huge obstructions to what was supposed to be the best game ever's release and they couldn't go end fast enough but sooner than later...

This. Gives me major early memory Christmas vibes. Probably due to What Child is This existing, though I mainly used to remember a flute instrumental version when I thought of it as a kid. Not even sure how the melody became so engraved in my memory, but it's always been a nostalgia bomb for me since before high school even.
