Apparently there's easter eggs that reference it but it's not the same universe anymore

Reviews aren't super great so far. Probably will just wait for the Dead Space remake, then.

Kinda sounds like a decent PS2 generation game with meh combat, difficulty spikes but with a $70 premium price tag.

Even has a borked PC port.

I'm enjoying what I've played so far but the PC version runs so poorly I'll be refunding it

Gonna cancel my pre order. Still got dead space remake next month and re4 shortly after. Not gonna blow $70 on a 7/10 game at best

"After tinkering around with the video settings i found that turning v sync and motion blur off stopped the game from stuttering all the time. Hope this helped."

Probably not after hearing how shitty it apparently is on PC. I could get it on PS5 I guess but eh.

I believe I did that before I even started playing because I do that with every game, but I'm not 100% on the VSync setting.

Well I'm excited about a couple additions/changes they've announced. Such as Isaac now being voiced.

But I only ever played Dead space maybe 3 times at most, and the last time was almost 10 years ago. So I'm really looking forward to the remake.

I waited for it.

But the reviews are meh so now Im not sure.

Ok, so I got it on PC...I'm loving it!

You do have to do some tweaking on the settings. And it is perplexing why you can't run this thing at full throttle when you have the hardware (RTX 3080ti, i7 11th gen, 32 gb ram, ssd). But honestly I recommend not focusing on that. Once you tweak the graphics right, it plays fine. I'm having a lot of fun with it.

I'm thinking it will probably be a sale $29.99 in three moths, but ya never know.

The stuttering is an issue with Unreal Engine 4's shader compilation. Tweaking motion blur and v-sync isn't going to help it, it's going to happen every time the game loads something new.

That's just what that one guy said worked for him.

I tweaked the game to death, ran like a million bench marks. I was tired of messing with it and finally settled on something. I played for awhile and the game crashed and the Unreal engine crash screen came up. I just sent the report, there's an option right there to restart it, and the WEIRD thing was, when I restarted it from that point, the game came back on playing and looking better than I was ever able to make it look fucking around with it.

Ohhhhkaaayyy, I've narrowed down the problem a little.

Practically speaking, on PC, it's the ray tracing. You gotta turn that shit off. You can do almost anything else, but ray tracing is the killer in this scenario.

Runs ALMOST fine otherwise, except it will stutter/briefly drop some frames in transition periods, turning corners, battles sometimes, etc. The biggest problem is that it's happening during important transitions, and it is happening a bit more frequently even for my old school tolerance. It's noticeable. It shouldn't be.

Granted, I have everything else maxed out. I think if you rope it in a little more you might soften that stutter too, but I know you shouldn't have to. Doesn't make sense.

But it is NOT the crisis that it has sometimes been compared to, like the disastrous Batman release, and such like. Not a gameday breaker.

HOWEVER, all that said, this game runs 98% fine and I am thoroughly enjoying it. The story is awesome. Combat is fun. Genuinely scary sometimes. The bugs will hopefully be addressed in an update anyway. Whether you're getting this at launch or waiting on a sale, it's a great game, a good time.

That sounds like shader compilation stutter. If you go back and play from the beginning you might not get issues now as the shaders have compiled.

If that is the case there's literally nothing that can be done outside of playing through the gamenas a stuttery mess so the shaders are compiled.

Yeah, that's what's happening alright. Once you get to an area, stutter. Walk around, let the room fill in, no problem. Briefly I mean.
