The only thing they service there is justice.

I did jury duty selection once and it was a terrible experience. Basically sat a couple hundred people in a big room with limited air conditioning and too few washrooms and nothing to do. Literally nothing happened all of day one so they forced us to return the next day, I brought and read a good portion of a book. No compensation for travel or missing two whole days of work.

And thats why id never comply for that bogus crap. Im not missing my rent payment to do my "civic duty" when the state repeatedly fails the citizen time after time. Luckily in this jurisdiction, jury trials are extremely rare.

It's insanely boring, you sit in a chair and wait. Maybe for 8 hours. If you don't get called that day, you go back the next day. This can go on for 5 days, this is how it was when I got called in Atlanta.

Then you sit through a couple days of juror selection, which they pick from a group and you may not even get selected and go home. It's a potential 6 days of sitting in a chair doing nothing for 8 hours and being sent home. No food allowed where I was either.

i got chosen as a possible juror last month. didn't get chosen. had to delay getting my covid shot booster because i planned to in november.

going to try this week before the flu season gets bad (or has turned bad atm).

don't want to try my chances of getting covid and possibly ending on a ventilator because the outcome ain't good.

Im really dreading this now its starts at 1pm

Bring a DS and play Phoenix Wright. Also turn up the volume to max and stare angrily at the prosecution.

if you have to fart try to do it loudly, you cant get in trouble for that and theres nothing they can do

Wait, people go to the courthouse and wait to see if theyre chosen? All Ive ever had to do was call a number to find out, thank God its never happened

in the new age of technology, they list out all the juror numbers called for the week. but calling is an option if don't have access to the internet.

also to note: getting my covid booster in a few days. going to see if there's a difference on having covid after a booster. (couldn't dodge the 2nd time) it's better this than being on a ventilator.

You could have beat jury duty if you had said that you are prejudiced against all races.

I had jury duty earlier this year, but had it postponed till the summer since I was off of work (I work at a college).

I postponed it again since I was sick, and I tried to postpone it one more time because I had other obligations, but they didn't let me.

so I ended up not going and idk how things are now.

You can usually get out of it with minimal effort. They tried to call me in twice during the bigger COVID shutdown times. I just replied to an online form that was at high risk and I was out just like that.

i just got an email today about my service being fulfilled after not showing up to a previous jury summons in September and getting a letter saying I need to go in this Wednesday.

it's a good excuse but now labeled that one is that against all races FML :(.

I was on a civil jury for a trial that settled after a day and a half of testimony. It wasnt that bad, and there were snacks in the jury room.

Just claim a hardship if you don't wanna do it, i.e. "my job won't pay me for this." If they do though definitely try and get selected.

The jury pay I got wasn't horrible and work covered the hours on top of it.

I have been on a jury before. It was very interesting.

I wouldn't object to being on a jury, but I don't think most lawyers want me on a jury.

I'll flat out refuse to find someone guilty for drug charges that don't include harming others in some way, for example.

they let me out after 3 hrs of just waiting and gave me a number to call to see if they need me

congrats. it's a good or bad thing depending on how the user sees it.

I don't think it's that hard. I've heard that claiming you have Asthma or IBS will get you out of it.

thankfully I can get out of it, by telling them I have severe add, and other mental health issues that make me unable to comply with mandatory jury duty.

They just called I gotta be there tomorrow at 8am

My bed bound wife got a summons for jury duty once. She called them up and explained the situation and asked for proof. It's like what are they gonna do? Arrest a woman who can't stand up or walk?
