I was for the bakery being able to refuse the couple.
And I am fine with this restaurant refusing this couple too, and hope they tell all their friends and this restaurant gets alot less customers.

No. What I mean is that I don't think it should be up to the government to decide that, it should be one of those public things. Like, I would be okay for women to have a place where only women can go so they can just go out and chill without having to deal with people coming up to them and bugging them for a date. Would you think this is okay? I think a lot of people would think that's okay. A public opinion. I don't the public opinion here in Portland would let a racist place to show up like that, it wouldn't last an hour

I'm saying I dream a world that can't exist. Those laws are in place for a reason. However, these sort of laws always come with double standards. It's like the free speech law. I'm 100% okay with people getting fired for saying horrible shit, that's one of those fuck around and find out things I'm talking about with this hypercritical place that won't serve certain people. If those places are run by horrible people, they will lose that place because the public will not give them money and buy their shit. Just like your boss will fire you for saying horrible shit, even though you're not breaking a law doing so.

Refusing someone service for something involuntary (sexual orientation) is worlds different from refusing someone service for something voluntary (their beliefs that people of certain sexual orientations are inferior)

100% agree that this should happen more often. disagree that the laws should be updated to prevent this type of discrimination. bigotry should not ever become a 'protected class'. we should always be free to reject people and discriminate against them based on abhorrent choices they have made. you make a choice to be part of a group that advocates bigotry?
