That's right, another bizarre Pokemon playthrough for me. After about a month of actually playing Pokemon like a normal person with the new Scarlet/Violet games, its time for me to go back to the weird stuff. Im back on the original Pokemon Red, but the trick with this playthrough is that Ill be sequence breaking the everliving shit out of the game and playing it in completely the wrong order! The rules are as follows:

1) My primary goal is to get all of the gym badges in an order where none of the badges are earned in their intended placement in the order. Im using the player profile screen in-game (which shows the badges you have and the faces of all of the gym leaders that you havent beaten yet) as the intended order. Ill also try to do some other stuff outside of the intended order as well, but my main focus is the gym badges.

2) Ill be using glitches to help me sequence break, and sometimes I might make use of the Badge Boost Glitch in battle (which is so unavoidable that its practically a game mechanic in gen 1), but I wont be duplicating items or catching a Mew or any of that stuff that would give me a crazy advantage.

3) For each major battle in the game (battles against gym leaders, the rival, the leader of Team Rocket, and the Elite Four/Champion) Im not allowed to use any Pokemon that are a higher level than that major trainers highest level Pokemon. This is so I cant easily curbstomp the early-game trainers when I backtrack after sequence breaking to fight higher level battles first, and it means that Ill likely be using more than six Pokemon during this playthrough.

4) Ill probably use my 3DS homebrew to make occasional save backups, but if I do somehow manage to break my save so badly that the game is impossible to complete and I dont have a restore point that I can go back to, then Ill just say oops and restart from the very beginning.

Anyways, to start this run, I chose Bulbasaur as my starter from Professor Oak. I caught a female Nidoran on Route 22 and a Pikachu in Viridian Forest, then I deposited Bulbasaur into the PC when it hit level 8, never to be used again. After some training in the forest to level up Nidoran and Pikachu a bit, I finished this first play session by using the Pewter Gym Skip Glitch to reach Route 3 without having beaten Brock yet.

Yes, the Brock Through Walls sub-glitch on that page will be used later in this run, and yes, that's the reason why I picked Bulbasaur as my starter but wont be using it during the playthrough. If anyone has any questions related to the playthrough, feel free to ask. I wont answer any questions about what order I plan on beating the gyms, because I want that to be a surprise. You're free to try and guess though.
