I have been hearing about a lot of players getting injured this year due to some huge hits. There was the Jets QB who just about got folded in half and had some broken ribs, and the Dolphins QB who has had like 3 concussions this season alone.

I can see them implementing some new rules next season, but I am not sure what they could do.

OK, that is weird. He wasn't tackled, he was the tackler and the impact doesn't look that bad. He gets up after the hit and then just drops like a stone.

It's because they weaken the immune system. Normally, the body has mechanisms in place to figure out what needs to be kept out, but when you get vaccines telling it everything, the immune system gets lazy and you can't fight off *checks notes* blunt chest trauma like a natural human can.

There's a reason why there's the term called braindead and why there's not a term called heartdead. I get what you're saying but the heart is a good bit more important than the brain.

Death isn't nearly the binary situation people like to think it is. There are a whole lot of different metrics that come into play in trying to define it and things can get super vague if you try to drill it down to technicalities. As far as colloquial speech needs to be concerned, if he's still alive now, he wasn't dead.

That was before the fact.

The full sequence of events is:

> The play where the impact takes place
> Both players get up and start walking away, when Hamlin suddenly collapses
> During the time when he's on the ground and people are trying to address the situation, both CPR and AEDs were administered. He was at some point resuscitated on the field.
> He was then taken via ambulance to the hospital, where they had to resuscitate him again.

Who knows how long his brain went without O2, but he was on the ground for nine minutes. Or that may have been the amount of time he was laying there before he received the CPR.

I know this site can be pretty bleak, but FFS, I'm just going to ask for a bit of optimism here from everyone.

Actually no, you can't become infected with covid from anything other than respiratory. Yes, that's because it was designed (evolved) specifically to infect the lungs. There have been no cases from someone catching covid any other way.

You also can't catch it from eating something, touching something, or getting it through a cut. It has to be through the lungs.

At the start of the pandemic we made a big deal out of washing our hands to stop covid, but since then we've learned more about it. You can get long covid symptoms from vaccines, but that's not a real infection, it's your immune response.

On the other hand if you were injected with a teaspoon of raw liquid covid virus then you might just die

With the brain stopping we are talking a complete vegetative state after even just a few minutes of having the brain stopped. Even if they can retrigger the brain later, that person might be gone forever as far as being a normal person even if they do live. So sure the heart is more important if we are talking death but if the brain is gone it's just as bad.

They stop talking when I walk into a room because I directly challenged them when they were all butt hurt about Biden calling out terrorists. I told them he was calling out people who were terrorists but they were unwilling or unable to see a difference between themselves and the terrorists because they were "trying to give us freedom" like a fascist overthrow of the government was for freedom. Potentially, yeah. A pathogen that grows on mucus membranes isn't necessarily going to be able to grow in the blood, and it's not like the blood is just going to transport it to its preferred site. I wouldn't recommend trying it, for obvious reasons, but it's completely plausible that it would work that way.

It's worth noting that all that means is that receiving a blood transfusion from a Covid-positive donor won't infect the recipient with Covid. Actually injecting Covid into the bloodstream is a different sort of exposure than what those findings address.
