Like, even if he was trolling. Folks do think what he said. Its much more constructive to combat the arguments or pull back why folks think the way they do. Just deleting things that arent directly insulting or offensive isnt beneficial.

Social movements nowadays are so impatient and entitled. I couldnt imagine someone like Rosa Parks getting indignant about racists saying she cant sit somewhere and dismissing every racist with those are just racist talking points.

Nah, repeat users making the same incendiary topics multiple times a week just to modify minute elements of their arguments, which they eagerly await for the chance to bring up at every new post, and then present them as new and original takes on their favorite topic, is just annoying. And then you can't have any sensitive topics because bad faith users like that shit up the board with their constant attempts at rebranding the same fucking thing over and over. It wouldn't be so bad if it wasn't a) a complete malpresentation of the actual state of affairs or b) repeated with such severity that you know with certainty it will exist at any given part of the day.

Such people ruin it for everyone.

Folks do think gay people are an abomination, that Jews are evil, that black people are inferior, etc.

Because yall dont get it. If someone thinks things about a system, you cant reference the system as proof. Its like trying to convince an atheist God exists by referring to the Bible.

It may make logical sense to *you*. And may be the logical approach overall. But some folks have gone their whole lives without encountering a single trans person. You will have to walk them through it.

If you dont want to, then honestly? Dont bother trying. I personally wanted him to elaborate what he meant by pressure. And find out what his opinion of pressuring cis children was. Get him to actually think about what hes saying.

Imo, having a conversation without outright accusing everyone is immensely more effective.

The arguments that the topic in question made are already settled, and most people are tired of having them.

It's like debating flat earthers, climate change deniers, or anti-vaxxers. There's enough (correct) information readily available online that if someone wanted to, they could easily learn about it themselves. Instead they argue in bad faith knowing (or perhaps not knowing) their viewpoint is wrong and insist that simply having a differing opinion makes them entitled to some kind of nuanced discussion.

He was pretty obviously trolling from what I read of it. The format is always the same: TC casts bait disguised as innocuous concern (in this case for children), gets challenged, replies only with straw man fallacies ("why don't you want kids to grow up happy?"). Nothing of value was lost imo.

When someone has a long history of suspensions, thats probably not the best topic to try to be making here as the thought is going to overwhelmingly be that that are not looking to have a discussion in good faith.

This place is decent and has gotten better imo. It used to be uber liberal and if you had beliefs going against the agenda, youd get labeled. Yeah it happens a little now but its not nearly as bad as say 2020.

I feel people in support of social movements today dont put in any work to actually change the social climate and just expect everyone to know things despite their upbringing. The need to constantly bring up someones political affiliation is a symptom of lazy conversation imo.
