New season, new week, same old metallic mayhem!

Our main event this week is a former Giant Nut winner, End Game, taking on one of last year's hotshot rookie bots and Tantrum's little brother teammate, Blip. We also have Hypershock vs. Sawblaze and Mad Catter vs. Whiplash for two more great matchups of veteran bots as well.

As a reminder, please put any discussion of match results under spoiler tags until 24 hours after the episode airs out of consideration for people who can't watch the episode live, especially if you decide to watch the episode early on Discovery+ before it airs on TV. Showtime for us TV viewers is 8PM EST tonight on Discovery, about half an hour from the time of this post.

Hypershock vs Sawblaze: This could've gone either way.

Emulsifier vs Fusion: Emulsifier was robbed.

Mammoth vs Valkyrie: Mammoth is not a serious bot.

Banshee vs Switchback: I like lifting arms with egg-beaters but that weapon is poorly positioned.

Hijinx vs Big Dill: I hate Hijinx. One of the slowest spinning bars and even slower to spin up. It's not an effective undercutter when it's nose-first.

Blip vs Endgame: Truly pathetic showing from Blip. Not even trying to fire the weapon. You're not going to get around Endgame. Those wedgelets were a mistake. Either get something solid or extend the flipping arm as low as possible, maybe Hydra style.

I did not expect Fusion and Emulsifier to go to the judges with how brutal those hits were, how much both bots were getting thrown around, and how much fire was involved. I can see why the judges gave it to Fusion based on how they controlled the fight and landed more big hits before their bot went up in flames, but Emulsifier seemed like it was in better shape at the end and I would have given it to them based on that.

Holy shit, Mad Catter just wrecked Whiplash. Outside of one of their past battles with Tombstone, I can't remember seeing Whiplash dominated like that before.

Forgot to comment on that fight.

Mad Catter vs Whiplash: Mad Catter has always looked like a top-tier bot but it could never win the big fights when it truly needed to. This is a big win.

I was hoping for a closer fight. A flipper that can't get under the opponent isn't going to do much. It's a damn shame.

I found myself frustrated by Blip continuously butting up against the front of Endgame. Blip is so fast and so tight to maneuver, and there were occasions where Endgame's weapon was helping to lift it off the ground. If Blip had been a little more patient and not just fed himself into Endgame's weapon three times, he could have gotten some solid flips. I believe that fight was poorly driven. Not to discount Endgame's quality, but...man, that felt underwhelming lol

The thing is that while End Game isn't terribly fast or maneuverable, it is very good at pivoting when it's stationary. That makes it super difficult to actually get to its side since it can very quickly turn and face you.

That's very true, but that isn't really what the problem was, at least not how I saw it. Blip had a clear and obvious speed advantage but kept butting heads directly even when there was no threat of being attacked otherwise. It was just...idk, it was a flawed strategy from Blip.

Another good episode. I know some people glaze past everything that isn't a fight, but Jameson in the commentary box and the post fight HyperBlaze story is some real A+ content.
