The argument seems to be that transwomen have an "unfair advantage", but that's incredibly sexist and flies in the face of everything feminists stand for.

What these ciswomen are essentially saying is "yeah, we can't hold a candle to men or even former men"

Trans women are currently the victims of a cynically targeted hate campaign.

The right ensures internal cohesion through blaming certain groups of people for all of societys ills. A few years ago it was Muslims and now its trans women specifically and anybody who is LGBTQI in general.

Its a tactic that has stood the test of time for them.

The hand grip study I saw was based on non athletes that were on HRT for multiple years. Is there a more recent study.

there's an entire branch of media dedicated to posting misleading articles that seriously skew perception of how frequently trans women win in sports.

they're often portrayed as monstrous, savage brutes; as though they're stronger than cis women on an actual statistically significant level (they aren't).

it's extremely similar to media portrayals of various marginalized ethnic groups as apes or other animals. there's a significant history of black people being portrayed that way in the US; but it happened with Jews in Nazi Germany (propaganda posters portraying them as mice -- vermin to be exterminated -- and the Nazis as cats); Asians throughout Europe (with the "yellow peril"); and since 9/11 in particular it's been happening with Middle Eastern/South Asian people.

They are the new minority to hate and take away attention from other matters. Also, many people are just terrible people.

People think it's unfair to the women that were born that way biologically , but those people hated women to begin with

Why do so many people insist on being wrong?

Let's not deny science, I know nobody wants to touch the subject because of this reason but this is the very kind of reasoning that shuts down conversation about almost anything relating to trans people. If you disagree you must be "transphobic".

I'm not going to sit here and try to validate why I stand with trans people because that's the very kind of thing someone will sit there and try to disprove you on, I don't need to prove myself, I know my heart.

But we need to stop trying to deny the reality of the laws that bind our world. And the rules of survival of the fittest, way back then cis men were meant to be hunter-gatherers so they're physically more capable whereas cis women were meant to bear children. There have been no physical evolution changes.

Until somebody provides hard scientific evidence I'm not going to budge on this.

TC out here like a flat earther questioning firmly established science like they're making a point.

People don't care. I think you'll find that the vast majority of people participating in these conversations do not follow women's sports, and couldn't give a damn about them, aside from this issue.

It's just a way for people to talk shit about transpeople with plausible deniability.

Why do people throw a fit about it? Because theyre fucking stupid.

This is basically the end game and people don't want to admit it. You could squint and make an argument for segregation based on a sex and it would be difficult and messy. I can't understand how sports segregation on gender makes sense.

Who knows? Its a mystery.

Answer to the topic: people feel transwomen have an unfair advantage over cis women, even after hormone replacement therapy, since they've already gone through puberty and have the bone structure and density of a male, whereas a transmale athlete assumes the disadvantage of going up against cis men.

Maybe not height, but a lot of sports already segregate sports by weight...

Several reasons:

1) Trans people are systemically marginalized and deplatformed, and have long been pathologized by cis people. There is a marked preference for cis accounts of transness in the media, and a lack of appreciation for the trans experience and how radically different it is in general.

2) Trans women, specifically, are a lethal challenge to the idea of the supremacy of masculinity. It is treated as a fact that men are masculine and men are superior to women, and thus a "man" who presents herself as a woman must, of course, be engaged in some kind of deception or otherwise be a degenerate. This social pathology is the root of so-called "trans panic" defenses and was and still is a common trope with regards to trans women in media: our femininity is nearly always presented as either a deception or as inauthentic (or both).

3) With regards to sports, people who argue that, say, Lia Thomas competing with other women is inherently unfair are leaning on the idea that Lia (and all trans women) are essentially masculine and thus men, and thereby naturally superior. No evidence is needed to back up this assertion: the fact that Lia struggled in two of her three events at national competitions against female athletes (or the fact that she was an excellent swimmer pre-transition) don't matter. And, actually, it's quite useful to discuss specific examples, because the number of prominent trans athletes is essentially nil. Also Lia would probably get dumpstered at the Olympics, if they hadn't specifically banned her. Katie Ledecky's record-time in the 500m (Lia's best event and the one she placed first in and set a collegiate record in) is almost 10 seconds faster. Oddly, no one is suggesting Katie has an unfair advantage over her competitors.

4) Cis society doesn't understand how powerful and effective HRT actually is: even many endocrinologists (i.e. the people prescribing hormones) don't! Essentially 99% of what makes some one male or female is down to easily-manipulable hormone levels - which puts a fatal lie to the idea that sex and/or gender is some essential, immutable thing and that men and women are really much different at all.
