I haven't played that one since it's Japan-only (most people here probably haven't) but I do know it had a "second generation" system like Awakening/Fates did. It's not a regular thing in the Fire Emblem franchise by any means, just in a few specific entries and mostly in the newer ones.

The second generation system in the newer ones was a direct and specific throwback to it. In Awakening which they expected might be the final Fire Emblem and wanted to go out with a bang. Then Awakening blew up and Fates happened to try and capitalize on ridiculous levels of fanservice.

It's even worse when I've seen some people make the worst kind of braindead logic defending it by saying "oh the pedophilia didn't ACTUALLY happen and the character wasn't gonna do it until she's of age." That doesn't matter. Talking to a child and saying anything of that sort is creepy as fuck and would get you on a watch list.

I like the series back when the characters had their own endings based on their pairings, and weren't there as a vehicle for self insert waifu wars. There's no fucking reason for child Anna to be anywhere close to being a romanceable partner.

They mistake their like for characters over narratives. FE9 and 10 had a good narrative though imo and so did 4.

I hear the Ike games had excellent stories. Hopefully they do actually get remasters/remakes at some point. It's surprising GCN games haven't been remastered in general outside of like, two of them.

I don't think "FE never had a good story" is a valid thing anyway. At worst they had a "non-story" in the form of the Marth games, but since FE4 they had stronger narratives. Genealogy and PoR are great. FE7 I thought was fine too but that could be nostalgia. Sacred Stones was a little weak and Radiant Dawn kinda fell off toward the end.

Awakening was fine. Fates was ass. Three Houses was fine.

If pedo Alear is canon then pedo Alear is canon, the localization is unauthentic (but probably required to maintain ESRB rating).

It's heavily toned down compared to Awakening/Fates where it's literally a pivotal gameplay feature due to the second-generation characters or Three Houses where they go full Persona with the social aspects. The support system is much more comparable to the pre-Awakening FE games, and the option to S-support (and marry, for the characters 18 or older) is only a late-game thing and basically has no gameplay significance at all.

Instead of tackling whether or not the censorshop is valid, why don't we tackle the issue of this being socially acceptable in Japan? They release stuff way worse than this on the daily. How do we make our voices heard and tell Japan that this stuff is unacceptable?

Second step, speak Japanese
Third step, spend your whole life fighting things that are socially ingrained as acceptable or not problematic enough to warrant change

You're essentially asking how to do we fight a culture war without checking the first two boxes.

You don't.

All you can do is not buy the game and tell everybody to avoid buying the game.

But telling FE fans that it has age inappropriate relationships (in Japanese) probably isn't going to deter them. So YMMV

Localization is not censorship. It's tailoring content to make it more culturally aligned with the culture its being adapted to. In most of the English speaking world, romancing an 11 year-old is a colossal taboo, extraordinarily frowned upon, and literally a criminal action. There was no way they could do a straight translation and not cause a giant shitstorm.

Now there is an entirely different conversation about how the original line was not offending Japanese cultural sensibilities.
