Yeah I dunno how anyone could live with themselves.

I'd rather die than live with any of that guilt.

Three little kids who were basically still just babies just massacred. Fucked up. All little kids want is to feel safe and loved and instead their short little lives end in terror from the person who is supposed to protect and take care of them. Dunno how mental illness could ever excuse that.

I don't think when he said forgiven he meant released from custody, just that people shouldn't take it out on her so harshly when she literally wasn't even living in reality when she did it.

but maybe he'll use some of the money to raise awareness about postpartum disorders

I'm not sure what happened here but there was a similar case where this veteran had some kind of psychotic PTSD break from reality and shot her two kids to death. She doesn't remember doing it and doesn't remember what triggered her and didn't snap out of it until after she'd killed her children. When she did come to she called the police on herself and just waited on the porch covered in blood.

If we are really using the post-partum psychosis defense then what's the excuse for the baby being 8 months old.

Surely there would have been major alarm bells long before then.

she was already diagnosed and being treated by a psychiatrist. the guy literally left for 20 minutes to pick up food and it happened.

and it can last longer than 8 months

I'm sure you would make better choices in a situation where you're not aware of reality and mentally incapable of making choices. And temporary insanity is an excuse for many situations legally.

Honestly, who IS aware of reality in this day and age? And we all know, the legal system totally works...

The fact still stands, they've made almost a million bucks and she could get off the hook on your kind of rhetoric.

If she has a conscience, she'll want to take her punishment and live with what she's done. If she has no conscience, she'll play the victim and enjoy the left over funds with her husband or whoever. In which case, she'll have escaped justice through sympathy. The system and society is just completely broken.
