Was it just more of the same? I havent played it yet.

I realized I didn't like the game after the shit exploration and taking forever to kill trash mobs.

More of the same and everything seemed to take longer to do anything.

The truth is, single-player games are always going to come and go. It is what it is. There's only so much you can talk about a game that you beat, felt satisfied by, and won't be getting future updates.

I mean, I'd argue Skyrim and Minecraft were the two most influential games of the last decade, but as of now, there's only one topic for each game and we'll go long periods with there being zero topics. People will talk if there's a new update for Minecraft, but that'd be about it, and heck, that's a primarily multiplayer/online-based game. It's been 3 months, the game already was played by its most active fans. From this point on, Ragnarok players will be the more casual fans that don't really care to share their experience, with maybe the occasional topic here and there.

This. Unless there's something to debate that people still argue about years later like TLOU or Breath of the Wild. But God of War doesn't have that.

NMH3 came and went. Bayonetta 3 came and went. *Insert a single player game here* came and went.

That was a fart worthy of 11 million sold.

Welcome to every game after a month

I mostly kept playing to see what happens with the story. Gameplay was just more of the same. Good, but nothing new after the last one. That one was a bigger deal because it was the first time they had this big change in the series.

Currently playing and enjoying it a lot

Stopped about 17 hours in. I'll get back to it but the Atreus sections really bogged it down. I took a long break from 4 then came back to it a few months after launch and ended up liking it a lot. Hopefully some time does the same for this one.

Because the controversy over fat Thor and black Angrboda paled in comparison to the game just being all around fantastic. Now the collective gaming consciousness has moved on to bigger and better things to bitch about: Hogwarts Legacy.

Why do you want others to fail to the extent you'll hinder your intelligence just to get to that perception?

You gotta go so far out your way to be involved with gaming and still not understand why single player games don't maintain their relevance as much as anything with multiplayer components or anecdotal examples. This also usually involves some extra bias where the person just stops acknowledging it being brought up in lists and stuff because they gotta fix their perception so that the stuff they don't care for failed.

I don't even care about GoW. But Im not hating and pretending it wasn't 2nd on pretty much every GoTY list. But, if it helps you perceive it as a failure, you'll probably convince yourself it needed to be first to mean anything

This always happens with single player-only games, particularly fairly short ones. Did it cross your mind that most people just finished it and moved on already?

It's just not really a replayable or lengthy game. I really enjoyed my playthrough but I have no desire to go and play it again, or go around collecting every item or whatever.

It was decent but I had no real drive to platinum like I did with 2018.

The only games from recent years that didn't come and go are Witcher 3 and BoTW

You dont even have to collect every item or play on the hardest difficulty to get the platinum trophy though.

But they do have "lulls" and Ragnarok is only having a lull because it can't be discussed as GoTY contender after the year it came out in. And that stuff literally just stopped. You have to be looking to put a hit out on it to chose this moment to try to bash it.

My favorite game was the obvious Elden Ring. And obviously that was also gonna stay in conversation because every game after is attempting to dethrone it. You can't talk about Ragnarok being dethroned or of ot deserves the throne because the year ended for it was faster. It was the last big game of the year.

Lasting power is a better metric of a games success. Botw is still talked about and it's sequel is the most hyped game of '23. Nu-gow wishes it'll be talked about half as much

They said it was the last game in this story from what I heard. Plus it literally just came out. So sequel talk makes no sense. And let's not forget it actually hasn't been stopped being talked about in reality.

Also, Nintendo fanboys are a different breed and we know that. Most other fanbases don't fall into the same obsession behavior at as high of a rate as Nintendo fanboys. Anything non Nintendo does wish it could tap into the obsessive fans Nintendo got. You right there. Just like any non Disney animation wishes it could tap into the Disney obsession. Once you have a cult-like fanbase, you have a much higher low when it comes to keeping relevancy

I got the game at launch but stopped maybe 1/3rds through. The pacing is just terrible, world exploration and puzzles are a chore, and the atraus sections were just god awful.

Taking away all your gear, moves and stats. Thrn pitting you in insanely difficulty battles just killed my enjoyment.

It didn't help how....overly tuned the gameplay was.
