Not surprising, it barely had any promotion. Companies still think you can just throw the Marvel name on anything and it's just gonna immediately sell like gangbusters. Plus tactical games aren't the easiest sells.

I'm waiting on at least a half off sale, personally

Absolutely true, people were predicting this before

I mean.....it's a turnbased RPG using a card system. You can slap a dozen popular licenses on it and it still would be a very niche game that doesn't appeal to the vast majority of gamers.

Its one of those game where it looks really cool until you see what gameplay is like. Doesnt mean its bad, but its for a more niche market.

It's so much fun. Xcom style tactics mixed with Marvel characters and Persona-like social aspects and exploration between missions.

From the ads I did see, I assumed it was something along the lines of Gotham Knights

It's not. Several characters aren't in the MCU at all(some haven't even been in a movie yet) and the ones that are aren't based on the MCU versions at all.

Lack of Promotion aside it released alongside other AAA titles like GoW, and sonic frontiers. It never stood a chance.

And gameplay wise I still have no idea why they decided to make the combat card based. Not saying it was done poorly or anything but it was still a odd choice.

I mean, I think card based makes sense for the superhero themes. Lets them get across a lot more of the personality and fighting styles for individual characters while keeping some balance and tactics.

The only thing I wish they'd done is team ups that are more than just a static animation and one big hit, but I'm also still early in the game.

Look at how people on games faqs did no about. We are on a fucking message board about video game cheats. If we didn't now. How could the masses.

I mean, its extra characters, with a separate side story for them. The game is full and in depth without the DLC.

If I have to wait months for dlc, I'd rather just wait months to buy it. Storm is not optional for me.

I also dont remember seeing anything about it until it was already out, and its a game that is very much up my alley. Its on my wishlist waiting for a good sale.

There definitely are a couple I'd have liked to see from the darker side of Marvel, but at least they got one of my absolute favorite underrated characters with Nico.

Who else would you have preferred?

It's justified IMO.

Game's like 6/10 for me. Graphical glitches galore, boring combat/gameplay, rinse and repeat mission structure, boring storyline etc.

Honestly feels like they were going to make a mobile game/phone game and someone said "no put it on consoles". There are a bunch of "resources" that you accumulate, "structures" you are time gated on, a flimsy ass relationship/friendship system, etc.

I understand I'm not the target audience but I also don't understand how some people here are saying it's their game of the year.

I got it on sale and I regret the purchase. Only got it because the guy I do my podcast with wanted to do a review on it.

No? Marvel has a ton of stuff on the darker side. I mean hell, they just introduced Man-Thing and Werewolf By Night into the MCU. I'm a bit surprised this didn't have either of those, or Elsa Bloodstone, though I like that they don't have the same Ghost Rider as normal.

Marvel hasn't been an attraction in gaming since the first Ultimate Alliance and when MVC3 let everyone down.

I haven't encountered a single graphical glitch, the combat is fantastic, the mission structure is no more rinse/repeat than Xcom 2, and the storyline is fine for what it is.

MVC3 didn't really let everyone down though, that was more MVCI

I really enjoyed the combat. The problem is pacing. Having to do Abbey shit between every mission (even side missions) gets old really quick.

For me, it really just needed something that let you go through a menu to do it when you don't want to wander around.
