No, it's like saying "Why would Scum be looking back through the topic, even though it's just one page"?

More to the point, why call something to people's attention like that for no purpose?

If Scum, was Sultan at a need to make more posts? Was he trying to force saying something for the sake of something? Why, if he had already been around?

Why does Scum feel a need to go back and reread page 1 to say something if they are already involved with posting during a joke phase?

It just doesn't track to me. The action implies a desire to read people and look into their posts. The nature of going back to find hints is something that, when Scum do it, is generally shared on Scumboard. And not drawn attention to.

That's where my mind has been about it.

I've been watching but only idly so. Lunch break now. Conspiracy brain is going "yes, Sultan scum but with a weak role and hides it badly, smokescreen being set up by bussers with stronger roles."

Peaf and Dumey read as OMGUSing each other, which feels like a town on town pissing contest. Just a gut feeling.

On skim, hb's opinions largely align with mine... which opens up a whole other list of reads from the outside that I do believe I'll keep to myself until I can get home and think it out a bit more. For now, though, I'm of the belief he's town.

I will grant Han that its a decent thing to use for a read.
But Its more effective for him than for me (and clearly not effective at all for HB)

i think some people (myself included) also just use it as a synonym for ad hominem. Like just trying to discredit someone because of how bad they are at the game. Discredit/accusing someone of being scum are close but not always the same.

(also for reference I don't think Peaf or I engaged in OMGUS during our exchange, but if that's the way Lsquen read it, then sure.)

To be fair I think my vote on HB was more out fo frustration than everything else

Still not liking HB but I feel this is a better lynch HB if misguided town I think will get back on track if he is scum he will not improve much maybe a bad thought but how I kinda feel rereading out interaction

Still a scum lean not nearly as strong about it. But I also see he could have been pandering to Me a bit.

This has been good day 1, a lot of things to look back at when we have flips. Overwhelming maybe, but not in a bad way.

I'm at this point.

Ctes is town
SBell is probably town. Scumbell is more careful than this.
Hb is probably town. I don't think Hb goes that hardheaded into this discussion if it's if Sultan is town and Hb is scum.

I don't think either of the two can be scum if Sultan but as both are probably town this doesn't matter much.

Han is probably town.
Death is probably town.
Kirby is probably town.
Plum is probably town.
I don't feel too great about Sultan.

Don't think to hard about any of the explained here, they're not hard reads then. It's all mostly a mix of gut feel and knowledge of usual play.

The fact that so little have pinged me wrongly makes me think most scum are a combination of good players and people that haven't been around much yet.

Corrik had the same feeling in Yu-Gi-Oh Mafia, and his suspicions were very correct there. We may be looking at a similar state here. Your town list also aligns with mine, though I feel better about Sultan than you do.

I've been skimming throughout the day working to catch up, I appreciate multiple people being considerate of this being my first time lol. I do not follow a lot of the arguments being made at the moment, but much of it is based on past behavior between people who have played many games together, so there's only so much I can really contribute currently.

General mafia question, is it generally wise to always lynch someone on the first day, or is skipping a viable option?

No lynching on day1 is generally a bad idea

This should read unexplained.

In smaller games where you want to give the town power more opportunity to get scans off and things, no lynching may be a better option. Typically we value our ability to lynch very very highly for the information it provides, so almost always better to lynch. Even lynching town D1 can give a lot of useful information for the rest of the game, even if that obviously seems like the worst case scenario at first.

So would the benefit to lynching a town member on day 1 be a combination of seeing being able to look back on what they said throughout the day, as well as to have a role publicly confirmed along with any powers it may have had?

Moreso its useful to see where everyone stood on the lynched player at the end of the day.
Who sat on the fence, who attacked that player genuinely or who did or did not defend him.

Yeah. Obviously we don't want to TRY and lynch town. Just shouldn't be scared of lynching someone we think is scum, because we still get something out of it either way.

I think people are lynched day 1 more often than they should be.

But I lost that fight a decade ago

That all makes sense. My first thought was the "we shouldn't risk losing a number for town" but the tradeoff of information gained is more valuable.

Information is the name of the game. It's why people will sometimes say or do wrong or silly things, just to get reactions.

Isquen argument I have mentioned in topic one.

Basically his response to my baby dig at him was terrible in the Clift notes version. Also provided much of nothing in his catch up post. Also only mentioned my vote on Kirby but no one else's nor any reason why said vote was bad not why others were good. Nothing.

Looked like forced content to me plus his breadcrumbs are the icing on the cake.
