Jade Empire was just one of those games that felt really good to play. It was just so naturally good. Plus the visual for the time were insanely good. Created a great atmosphere too. Could have been up there with one of the greatest of all-time if it wasn't so easy and lacking in content. I wasn't really that into any other Bioware game. There were just alright. I loved Jade Empire. It's a bit of an overlooked gem. I think the biggest thing was that it was right before when WRPG's became super popular on consoles (the 360 specifically). It's not tied to a franchise which means less people look back on it too. If things were slightly different yeah it would have a bigger legacy. It was a great game. --- A Fallen Mascot ... Jade Empire was fantastic and I am sad we never saw anything more with it. I think the Dragon Age series or BG2 has to take it for me though. I will die on the hill that DA2 is a good game, despite its issues. I'd probably go with BG2 though, as it is what formed my love of RPGs and something I still occasionally go back to do a playthrough with some odd class combination with mods jacked up to the nine hells and back. Neverwinter Nights. The modding capability completely blows anything else they ever worked on out of the water because not only do you get a fun game engine trying to emulate a simplified dnd 3.5, you also get almost endless amounts of content from pen and paper adaptions to original stories and settings to persistant online worlds like little mmos ... I'd say DA:O. It felt like they really elevated the CRPG experience with that one and playing it for the first time when it came out was something special. I really loved ME2 when it first came out, but when I replayed it a few years ago, the gameplay kinda fell flat. Most missions felt like a linear corridor connecting rooms with waist-level obstacles where it became immediately obvious a fight was going to occur. My favourite part of replaying it was probing Uranus. The story still holds up, but to be honest that's secondary to gameplay for me. --- "I'm the straightest guy on this board. Then I took to the internet and saw everyone calling it the most disappointing sequel ever because of the ending. I just don't agree. I'm enjoying it even more now my second time with the Legendary Edition. It has been the best of the 3 in almost every regard. Main story is almost as intriguing as 1, the party is almost as great as 2, the gameplay is unparalleled. Best overall imo. The last hour or two aren't likely to change that for me. --- https://i.pinimg.com/originals/6b/1a/6a/6b1a6a72ead402776666d859cc06a746.jpg ... Copied to Clipboard!

Vyrulisse posted... The campaign for Neverwinter Nights was god awful which brought it down a lot in my estimation. It's not really the draw of the game. The main appeal was always modding and the ability to have a dungeon master that can do things like control npcs and spawn encounters and stuff for you while you play. It's why it has the same name as the online gold box AD&D game from the early 90s. The main campaign is kind of like a free pack in example of what you can do in the engine. But honestly, I personally have never been able to understand why people play Bioware games for plot, so that may be why I'm biased? They like to stick a lot of it in things they make but have never been good at actually writing it, and I would extend that to everything they made except BG2 and DA:O. Mass Effect in particularly is a long and winding tale about interesting characters that almost all miss their potential. NWN letting you get in there and write your own story for a module or roleplay with your friends online is way more of a draw for me than dealing with Bioware's lame black and white dialogue tree junk ...
