I recently finished the audio books for The Hobbit and Fellowship of the Ring. I'm currently going through the movies as well after finishing each audio book. When I was listening to the book, I was following along with an interactive map of Middle Earth so that I understood where places were in relation to each other for the first time.

That has made the movies even more interesting, imo. I've watched the movies a number of times, but when they would mention the names of places, I just kinda glossed over it because I didn't understand where they were going or where a certain place was in relation to anything. On one hand, I wish The Hobbit wasn't split into 3 movies, but I get that doing that allowed them to put more detail in (and also obviously make more money).

I'm gonna be watching the 3rd Hobbit movie tonight and then I'll watch The Fellowship of The Ring tomorrow night (all extended editions). Then when I finish Fellowship of the Ring, I'm gonna start on the audio book for The Two Towers, then watch that movie afterward.

Then I'm gonna go into either The Children of Hurin or The Silmarillion since I've never read either one of those.

Read The Silmarillion first. The story of children of Hurin is contained in it. The book Children of Hurin that was released is more of a dive into the various versions of the story that Tolkien wrote and how it changed over time. Plus without the knowledge from The Silmarillion it wouldn't make sense to you.

Thanks for that. I'll definitely do The Silmarillion first, then.

For me, I just realized that I got bored with listening to music on the radio. So I decided to try listening to audio books in the car when I'm driving, and that has been pretty cool. Now I mostly listen to them at home.

I agree with ScazarMeltex, read the Silmarillion

I recently read the new book "The Fall of Numenor" and really enjoyed it, though it did make me question what Amazon is doing with The Rings of Power.

Nice, I've been meaning to do the same. I only ever read half of the fellowship when I was younger. I just had to stop though, I couldn't take all the long descriptions of grass. But I was like in middle school I think.

They had Andy Serkis (Gollum) do recordings for The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings series, and he is freaking great.

Silmarillion is bit of a read. Some good stuff in there though.

We need to get Tom Baker to read Tom Bombadil parts, before he gets dead.
